Openreach Says Faster is Available?

According to the Openreach website our address has broadband speeds available of up to 80mbps?
When I have looked at broadband deals they’re all saying “our checks show you can get 27-32mbps”.
Why is openreach stating we can get double the speed providers are stating and is there anything we can do?

Openreach are saying "up to" 80 which is correct, as 27-32 is less than 80. The speed you can achieve from FTTC is dependent on your distance from the cabinet, and line quality1

They can only remotely test the line and get an estimate base don the line conditions. However most ISPs now have a speed guarantee and are likely to under estimate what the line might actually achieve to avoid complaints or compensation.
Did you use your actual telephone number or your estimate or just a post code
In the end it's what you actually get when the service is provisioned that counts and that can be a variable based on line distance and line condition between you and the service equipment. You could easily end up with a different speed to your neighbours especially if they are connected via a different cabinet.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Try running the BT Wholesale checker tool to see what speeds are available to you - https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL0

My first BB connection, in 2011, was supposed to be 32 Mb but within days it dropped to just 2.5 Mb and within a week it was less than 1 Mb. Numerous calls and engineer visits couldn't sort it out until I said to the last engineer to replace the line between the pole and the flat, he did this and I now have 44 Mb download speeds from an up to 76 Mb connection. Not bad to say the first 4 visits ended with a temporary fix lasting no more than 48 hours.Someone please tell me what money is0
