I can't find that when I log into my banking....They used to have a large annoying popup that pushed it and that's disappeared from mine...Maybe I blocked it long ago and just forgot, but, whatever the reason, I don't see it now.
I do remember being on the verge of changing banks because of it.
I still get the large annoying popup now and then, usually between the page trying to sell me a loan and the page offering to help me with investments.

I rarely use the online banking now, but, just looked and didn't encounter it, I didn't look around much though, straight in and out. No reason to doubt that it's there somewhere though.  :s
I do everything on my phone via the app. Much more convenient and just straightforward and definitely, no dreaded Trusteer annoyances.

Don't know whether this is the right forum for this but here goes.

I bank with Santander and have downloaded Trusteer Rapport which worked perfectly well when I used it with Internet Explorer which is no longer supported.

I'm now having to use Microsoft Edge which is my default browser and when I try to log in a pop -up asks to me to download the Rapport software even though it is already installed along with the Edge extension.

I am not at all technical so can anyone suggest why Rapport doesn't work with Microsoft Edge?

    Thanks in advance

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the forum's "Techie Stuff" experts, just commenting that I have used Rapport for years and have not experienced the resource hogging or high CPU usage that many have reported with this software.

Certainly over the last couple of years, it has never caused the problems it did previously when browsers were updated which resulted in the need to uninstall and then reinstall the extension.

To answer your question, I use Edge as my default browser and Rapport is installed as an extension and enabled in the browser's settings. It works perfectly on the Santander website. Maybe you should uninstall the extension, then reinstall making sure its turned on in your browser settings. From memory I recall you had to power off your computer after the reinstall and then power up again.

That's all I've got to say and am now retreating behind my sofa to avoid the forthcoming flak.

Hope this comment has been of some help, and by the way I do sleep easy at night knowing that I am using what my bank has recommended for security purposes.

I'd use it too if my bank said "if you use this software we recommend, and you are the victim of online fraud, we will reimburse you for any losses you incur".

    But I bet they don't.

Edge doesn't get a large chunk of version updates like Firefox/Chrome do so its less susceptible to the "my browser updated and now doesn't work" thing, being part of Windows so it'll update more in line with Windows Update.

I think this quote from Which sums up Rapport perfectly:
https://computing.which.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/115005579745-Should-you-use-Trusteer-Rapport- - "An important point to emphasise is that it isn't Rapport's responsibility to protect your online banking. It's your bank's.

Logging into an online bank involves multiple stages of security checks. These are put there by your bank to ensure that you and only you can access your account or transfer money.

You can log in perfectly safely without running Trusteer Rapport. The only benefit it could give is spotting a potential phishing site that was masquerading as your bank - but plenty of other tools, including most modern browsers, can do this anyway"

Oh I have moved from bank to bank to bank because they need to secure me against fraud by using Trusteer. Sadly none of them have figured that it doesn't work on Linux oops. B)

It doesn't come up every time, granted.  I think it may be that if you haven't been there for a while it will pop up otherwise..
I logged in for the first time in weeks earlier and did not get the popup, thankfully.

    Made me laugh ;)

I like this thread, it's a throwback to , what 10-ish or so years ago when every third thread on the techie forum was another "Rapport has crashed my pc" thread. :)

Oh, for the good old days!!  :D
