I still have a working Three data reward sim which I use occasionally. I have just seen in the T&Cs (see https://www.three.co.uk/terms-conditions/data-reward-sim ) under
Termination after inactivity that "Three reserves the right to terminate and disconnect the Data Reward SIM in the event you have not activated a Pay As You Go Credit on your account or undertaken any chargeable events or activities (for example, made telephone calls, sent text or photo messages, accessed content or the internet or any other services for which a charge is made) using any credit or allowance on your account within the preceding 6 month period."

Does that mean that if I only ever use the free 200MB (which is what I have done so far) and have never topped up then they could terminate and disconnect? If so, I should probably top up (£2 seems the minimum)...?

My experience is that using some of the free 200MB occasionally is sufficient usage to keep it going.
However, the statement 'Three reserves the right to terminate and disconnect...' implies that is not that they definitely will terminate, but they can, and maybe they just haven't done so yet with my SIM...
Yes the minimum £2 top-up is available and would be a sure way to keep your SIM active and avoid losing your number.
    Evolution, not revolution

I believe that using some of your 200MB free data counts as a "chargeable event" for the purposes detailed in the T&C's. Can't be definitive as both my SIMs have a couple of quid of PAYG top-up applied to them so that they can be used for calls/texts in a second/third phone, and are used at least every couple of months as a test of both the SIMs and the phones.

EDIT TO ADD : sending a text every couple of months is also a check that 3,2,1 rates are still being applied (check cash balance before/after send). Just in case a sneaky price rise were to be slipped in when your back was turned.

Well, perhaps  The paragraph I quoted says "undertaken any chargeable events or activities ... using any credit or allowance". I am using the 200MB allowance, so I'd naively assume that I'm fine. But who knows :confounded:

I'll put on £2, just to make sure they don't pull that rug under my feet. Also, as you mentioned the old 321 rates are still honoured, so I'll certainly use the SIM a little more than I used to. Thanks for looking into this.

Will be interesting to see what happens to this rate after 12th July.

Well, being the eternal optimist that I am I'd like to think that they will (at least at first) keep this... those Data reward sim rates have already survived the jump from 321 to 10/10/5 that Three bestowed upon its PAYG customers last year. But perhaps I should wait with any topping up

I've got 3 of the sims in various gadgets, they've been in use for years now and have never had a top up, just a small amount of data used every month.

Iv had the data reward sim since 2017,and last year i got a text it was going up from the 321 rates, but it never did. Had a text bout the new price rises, which come in on july 12th. Hopefully they will forget again. The £2 top up you use the website.
Not seen them advertized recently, they may hav stopped selling them
Edit. They have. Existing customers will get the free 200mb for life, but new registrations will not be accepted * from the three website
