Passport Frustration!

Hi
As we all know, passport application wait times are up to 10 weeks. I submitted an application for me and my partner at the beginning of May, and submitted our identity confirmation stuff. About a week after the status changed from ‘Identity Details Received’ to ‘Application in Progress’. It said this for about a month, however when I went back to check the status this morning it has reverted back to ‘Identity Details Received’! Can anybody share their experience of applying for a replacement passport and using the online portal?
We fly in September and we still need to apply for a passport for our son. We can’t apply until we have ours in hand :-(

I cam here to check on posts about this as the passport office Twitter is full of complaints. I applied April 12th and have heard nothing except, as the op states 'application in progress' which then reverted back to documents received. This is appalling.0

Applied in March, got it in mid June so about 13 weeks in total but had issues with foreign passport. Plenty of other people posting on here that they got theirs within 3 weeks or so after they applied much later

The good news is that, assuming you are in the UK already, a passport is not usually a requirement for a 'UK Holiday, Day Out or Entertainment' ;-)I don't know if this board has a guide, but if so, the thread is probably best moved over to the 'Overseas Holidays' part of the forum, where it will be better placed to get feedback (although I suspect this may be one of those 'how long is a piece of string' cases where individual experiences completely differ from each other)
