Help with European brake down insurance for car 15 years + old

Can't suggest an insurer, but if you do find one, one thing to check is what happens if the cost of recovering your car to the UK is greater than its value. I remember reading one breakdown policy which contained a write off clause which said that the insurer would not spend more than the value of the car on recovering it, and could pay you it's value instead. Where that would leave you and your luggage I didn't check as it was unlikely to be an issue with the car I was driving at the time a few miles from Calais - but I can imagine it being an issue with a 15 year old car half way across the continent.
(I'd imagine that in a "write-off" situation the insurer would be responsible for getting you home by some other means, but it would be best to check, especially at the cheaper end of the market).1
