Shell Energy monthly DD increase

If you don't submit regular meter readings, then they have to guess (I mean estimate) your usage; it's then a bit of a stretch to then say they're guessing wrong, but I'm not going to tell them the actual amounts.People's energy bills have gone up massively these past few months, so monthly payments will go up accordingly. However, a 5x change does seem rather a lot.I hope the outcome isn't too much of a shock, though!0

I am with Shell Energy. I am £234 in credit. A notification on the app suggested I reduce the payment amount from £90 to £78 per month......of which I have now done.0

Is that a genuine credit, in that have you been billed for recent usage since your last payment credited?HumberFlyer said:I am with Shell Energy. I am £234 in credit. We are at home 24/7 and not cut down our energy usageSea_Shell said:

Your current balance shows credit because you have not been billed for nine months or more, so the credit sits there waiting for a bill. When was your last actual bill and do you submit meter readings, have a smart meter, or just let them run estimates?HumberFlyer said:

How much gas and electricity are you using in kWh, based on actual, not estimated usage?
What unit rates are you on and if not on SVR when does your tariff end?1 -

Can you look on one of those bills and let us know the annual energy consumption figures in kWh please? They should be on one of the pages.0

Based on those numbers and ignoring any credit your annual usage comes to £1,017.47, which works out at £84.79 pcm.
It does not sound like you are too far out, keep an eye on it to make sure it does not go into debt, but you look to be largely fine, especially with the credits coming in the autumn.
Great deal by the way, pretty much everyone else would love to be on a deal like that at the moment!
