Parking stories in the News/media

A friend just told me about this one.
The cameras are at campus entry and exit, not the individual car parks within. The campus is not small.
I'm a random person on the internet. I hold no legal qualifications and nothing I say is advice.

Thanks for posting - I know a student at NoU but they were completely unaware of this! Will not go well, I suspect - or rather, will go extremely well for F1rst Parking and UoN income!
Lots of PCNs to be issued when parents moving new students into halls plus students who don't live on campus but visit campus and/or help friends and siblings move into halls. Registration required even outside core hours is how I read that.
No mention that I can see regarding moving-in days or open days.
And, of course, the sports centre will now get a tablet…
Luckily, there will be at least 4 months prominent signage warning of the material change as required by the CoP, won't there…?6 -
It is the same setup at the local uni campus near me, huge site, cameras only at the main entrance/exit, and lots of different car parks with different signage.
It was a very easy win at Popla…

They do at least give 30 minutes free, but there are guaranteed to be problems if the Uni think this is a simple solution to the parking issues.

How long ago was this? Even slam dunks are rejected by Popla in 2026!

Oh good grief, I just checked and it was 2 years ago. Well, that's just made me feel very old…

Today I learned universities are covered by FOI. Just sent one to Nottingham University.

Lots of info here about who is covered by FOIA
Private Companies are not covered but where they receive public money then the source of that money (the public authority)will be subject to FOIA requests relating to aspects of the awarding and monitoring of that contract. Commercial confidentiality is not an absolute exemption.

A slightly different parking story ………. (Employment tribunal, not a PPC)
University worker ordered to pay £20,000 after parking spot discrimination row

And rightly so. Surprised she wasn't dismissed decades earlier.
