A huge protest and blockade has been planned over the controversial proposed parking changes at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

The Dublin shopping centre is one of the biggest in the country, the protest is happening on Dec 6, one of the busiest days for shoppers in the run up to the Christmas period.

A recent survey from YourParkingSpace revealed that nearly half of drivers (48%) want larger spaces, their spokesperson said: “This research tells us that space and comfort are now top priorities when parking – not just price."

The incidents have caused outcry among Hounslow residents, particularly at a time when Loretta Alvarez, 26, still faces a £1,000 fine from the council for “fly-tipping” an envelope next to overflowing communal bins. Reacting to the latest incident, Loretta said: “I have no words."

UNISON, Unite and GMB are urging councils to abandon the proposals. 

“Staff are worried this move would turn their roles into target-driven revenue collection instead of fair, accountable enforcement."

“With so little regulation in the private parking sector, outsourcing risks creating a Wild West approach with minimal safeguards – and the people of Ayrshire deserve better."

“This short-sighted, ill-considered and dangerous proposal must be halted immediately and shelved permanently.”

Several media reports online and comments on social media re this incident.

Seemingly online verbal abuse was directed at the parking attendant...yes as the council said she was carrying out her duties but on her return visit to issue the 2nd parking ticket she did park her own car where she shouldn't have.

And who the hell is the grey haired man in the video seen removing one of the parking tickets from the car windscreen and walking away with it. He clearly has knowledge of the "Ghost Ticketing" scam practice and wants to ensure the keeper of this car experiences it.
