Shell Energy Broadband - changes to terms and conditions

Hi, looking for help here.. Just received this email below from Shell Energy Broadband about them changing their terms and conditions.. trying to make sense of it!

'We wanted to let you know that from Friday 17 June, we’ll be making some changes to your terms and conditions to reflect new Ofcom regulations, which give you added consumer protection.
From Friday 17 June, customers who are within their minimum contract term will have the right to leave their contract without incurring any exit fees if we make any changes to the contract after Friday 17 June. This is unless those changes are to your benefit, purely administrative or required by law.'

Does this mean I can leave/switch anytime without charge??.. My 18th month contract started in March..

Thanks 🙂

    Thanks for the reply.

The confusion is who decides if they are to your detriment?.. Will I be able to switch without any penalty?

It should be pretty obvious if its detrimental or not?

    What confusion?
If a change is made that disadvantages you then you can go.
If they make a change that advantages or improves the service then you can't go without exit fees.

It should be obvious which is which I would have thought.

Its like saying if they take all the windows out your rented flat and then leave it at that that's obviously to your disadvantage, but if they take them out and replace single glazed with triple glazed the same day then that's minor inconvenience for a better living experience, but you wouldn't hand your notice in just because they've swapped the windows out would you?
