Virgin media broadband start date

Hi, currently have broadband & phone with Plusnet, contract end date is 17th July. Speeds have been poor, so time to move on. Have seen the new virgin 200mb deal on this week's newsletter, if I sign up today, when does the contract start? Is it today? Or when it's fitted (thinking 4th July, next convenient day)?

I’ve just moved from Plusnet to Virgin for the same reason. My Virgin contract start date was the date of installation and activation. I was able to book a day just before my Plusnet contract ran out. I then gave Plusnet the necessary 14 days notice of cessation of service.0

Great thanks 👍0

Did the transfer go OK, and did you keep your old telephone number?
I ask, as we're moving across too,but looking from the Virgin Media forums, it seems that:
i. the phone line needs to stay 'on' so that VM can 'port' (transfer) the old number across - if the original supplier switches off the line before the transfer, you might end up with a new phone number.
ii. VM have occasionally cancelled/rescheduled the engineer appointments, sometimes at quite short notice.0 -
Moving from Plusnet to Virgin isn’t really a transfer of service, as they use different networks, but if the phone number is being ported from PN to VM, that is usually scheduled to happen on the day VM install their service , if VM are delayed they can normally defer the number port until the new date…the worst thing to do is contact PN yourself1

Not moved as yet, scheduled for 9th July installation day with Virgin, being charged £3.95 by plusnet for early cancellation 🙄0

If your PN ‘contract’ end is 17th and VM is installed 9th , then if you are porting the Plusnet number then ETC from the 9th to 17th is due , if you are not bothered about the phone number you could run both services alongside each other until 17th and no ETC would be due , provided you gave PN the necessary notice on or before 17th June , but for £3.95 it’s not worth the hassle of trying to unpick it0
