Child tax credits: why is there no broadband discount?

I’d read that you can get broadband deals if you are in receipt of certain benefits. However, it seems this would only apply
if you were on universal credit. Am I correct in thinking there’s no reduction if you are still in receipt of the legacy benefits? I had a look at the eligibility for the BT reduced broadband and Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit weren’t covered. Is it pointless to contact BT about this?

Tax Credits will be discontinued by (I think) 2024 in all forms in favour of UC.Provider choice whether to support them or not, but as a general rule WTC and CTC historically don't count for benefit purposes (much like when you used to get JSA you could have all the help on the planet if you claimed income based JSA but you got naff all on contribution based).1
