How to get meter changed from pre-pay to normal?

Hi,are you buying a property that is part of a block, with one main meter and 'private' meters for the individual flats?1

Hi. No, it's a normal terraced house.

I would go through your conveyancer and ask for written confirmation from the seller of what type of meters they are and that the supply is now in the name of the seller (not the previous tenant). At least you'll have something in writing and the conveyancer can check it's not a situation that is going to cause you problems once you move in.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I did see it very briefly, but didn't pay much attention at the time. Not 100% sure, but I think it may have been a bit bigger. Thanks for the advice. Will try to get the relevant info ASAP.0

Hi all.Just an update. Both the electricity and gas meters were PAYG, which I might leave for now since I won't be moving in for a while yet. Thanks for all the replies and advice.

Bare in mind you will be paying the standing charges if you use/have used enough fuel to advance the meter reading (unless on Utilita).BucketFull said:Hi all.Just an update. Both the electricity and gas meters were PAYG, which I might leave for now since I won't be moving in for a while yet.

It is Utilita, but thanks for the warning. Might double-check just to make sure! By 'advance the meter', do you mean use anything after the date of completion of the sale? If so, then yes, boiler, etc. were tested.

Most Utilitia tariffs work the way that they are putting 50% of the daily standing charges on the two first KWh each used per day for each fuel. From the 3rd KWh they are charging a different cheaper rate per KWh.
So when you tested the boiler you paid for the KWh used, plus also the standing charge for this one day.1 -
They have been exchanged years ago and theres none around now but gas prepayment meters (not smart ) are all plastic card and they have narrow slot on the meter .frugalmacdugal said:Hi,is meter like this, card meter?
