Economy 7 meter
Hello
I have a Eco7 meter, and always have gone for fixed tariffs where the price per KwH is the same day and night because we barely use any electricity at night.
I was lucky that my supplier hasnt gone bust but the fix is coming to an end in July. I am looking for a standard tariff where the price is the same day and night! but it seems my electricity bill will go through the roof just because I have a eco7 meter?
What are my options. Are there any suppliers with a standard tariff that charges the same day and night for a Eco7 meter? thank you!

No problem at all. Just ask your supplier to move you onto a single rate. That is just the normal SVT rate and they can do that even if you have an E7 meter. All suppliers should be able to do that, but your best choic eis to ask your current supplier as most will not take on a new customer on SVT.1

Thank you for that. That is very reassuring to know. Lets hope my supplier (Outfox the market) will allow a normal single rate.0

Otherwise EDF and Octopus still let people join on SVT, but you have to call them. Octopus you might even need to call more than once as not all agents allow you to join them, Make them aware you have an E7 meter, but want to join on single rate,2

Hello so I asked my supplier to move onto single rate tariff, however they said we need to exchange the meter to a single rate smart meter. I do not want to change my meter! Any advice?!0
-
Why do you not want to change the meter? There will be no charge.
If your supplier will not totalise the 2 registers, then you can't otherwise have a single rate tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I dont know why - I am just suspicious of these smart meters......0
-
The next logical question then is why - what actual information* have you read that makes you suspicious?

So, get a smart meter, switch to single rate, then wrap tinfoil around it and it will revert to a dumb meter, Job done.

I think I was just wary of not being able to switch suppliers easily if I have a smart meter....0
