Ryanair have cancelled all flights despite me specifying I only wanted to cancel three of the inbound flights.

All eleven legs, i.e. the original four out-and-back ones (total eight) and also the additional three bought on a different reservation?

Putting all the ambiguity and confusion about the exact status of your tickets, what outcome are you seeking?  Reinstatement of the outbound flights seems the obvious first choice but if they're unwilling or unable to do that, what outcome do you want?

That's still not what you were asked.

How many PNRs were there in total? Which flights did these cover for all bookings? I've even given you details of how to find this. Please don't post the PNR codes on the forum for your own privacy, we just need to know what is related to which booking.

Please give the following information so we can help you in the following format as I'm trying to get to understand your situation.

PRN1: FRXXXX, XX/XX/XX (Just month if you want).

Repeat for PRN2, etc etc etc. There may be more than one flight under a PNR.

We need this information to ascertain exactly what's happened and to advise whether Ryanair have acted correctly or not, as the situation I have in my head (which would mean Ryanair have done exactly as you've asked them) may not be the case.

Saying the above has just complicated the matter further. Once again you will find your PRN (blanked out in red on the photo below) at the top of each confirmation e-mail you have with Ryanair on the right hand side. There are 2 flights attached to this particular PRN in the photo below, therefore making this a single booking. I believe the booking you've cancelled looks exactly the same (but with different flight numbers and dates), which in this case means Ryanair have done exactly as you've asked them, which is cancel your booking in exchange for a full refund.

If flights under a different PRN have been cancelled as a result of a booking being cancelled, you will have a case, however this does not make sense.

(Removed photo of a confirmation email as there was a part not blanked out)

No. They just cancelled the 8 original flights. I still have the 3 flights from Hungary to uk.

As far as the PRN, there is a 6 letter code being with I.

but yes both legs of the flight are shown on the same booking.

In this case, I'd personally take the opinion that Ryanair have cancelled your booking as requested, meaning the whole booking. The opinion of others may vary.

As these are under a single code, if part of the booking is cancelled the whole booking will be.

You are therefore free to purchase flights to Budapest, or ask Ryanair nicely if they'll reinstate your booking, however you are likely to have to pay the current price for this. The live chat service will generally be the best way to get in contact.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate your point, but it’s a bit low of them to use such an ambiguous system to cancel flights.
  • @Locornwall -  OK.  I'm afraid I'm inclined to agree with @CKhalvashi that if your booking confirmation only shows one PRN (is that Passenger Reservation Number?) then it looks as if you only had one booking with Ryanair, albeit with eight separate flights, and that although you thought you were simply cancelling three individual flights, you ended up cancelling all eight.

Without having sat behind you looking over your shoulder and seeing exactly what the Ryanair website appeared to be telling you, it's difficult to know how to advise you.  I think I'd go back to Ryanair and complain along these lines:

... Last week we received an email from Ryanair stating hungary had decided to introduce a tax on flights. They gave us the option to cancel specific flights and obtain a refund. I therefore decided to apply to have the 3 original return flights, as they were no longer needed. My partner was next to me when I did this and check I did it correctly.

I think you know where this is going, but I received an email yesterday stating all of the original flights have been refunded, which I never requested. I have also booked hotels which can’t be refunded. Suspiciously I did not receive an email confirming what had been cancelled when I did this. I contacted Ryanair today and they told me I requested to cancel all flights and this was checked by a supervisor...
And if you saved screenshots during the cancellation procedure (which I think you should always do if you can) supply them as evidence of how you were misled.

    Good luck

If the OP wished to pursue Ryanair legally then they may* have to raise a claim in the courts of the Republic of Ireland, as that's the jurisdiction Ryanair mention in their contractual T&Cs (see item 9). Any claim the OP may have is for Loss of Bargain, and the basis of their claim would be Contra Proferentem ... I don't know if this is covered under Irish law.

UK consumer law may allow the OP to file a claim in the English courts ... see "(except as otherwise provided by mandatory consumer law provisions)" in T&C 9.
