    A strange question here. I have a job in the UK where I receive tips, mostly in single dollar bills. I now have around $1,000 and I am planning to travel to the States in November, however I am not comfortable carrying 1,000 single dollar bills. Does anyone know if I can change them to bigger denominations like $20 bills to make life easier. I would prefer to do this before I travel tot he States?

I.E will an English bank or foreign exchange service change them for me to bigger bills?

 Any exchange will swap them. I use the post office to swap back my currency after holidays

Not too likely an exchange will swap cash so readily. They'd probably want to do some checking on the bills to make sure they are real and are not likely to do that 1000 times. It would certainly fall foul of money laundering checks even if they wanted to.

I've failed in the past to get a post office to swap $100 bills for $20s.

Are these American tourists or businessmen tipping you $1 bills..? If so, could you ask some of them if they need more supply and exchange them for bigger bills..?

I doubt you'll have much luck anywhere else in UK.

In the past I have found the M & S currency bureaux very helpful with exchanging the denonominations of foreign bank notes.
