Well I have this from an on line chat with Vodafone. They will port my existing number if a direct application to them.
"Perfect so we have two option here,
1. We can place order here on this chat for you with above Talk Talk number.
2. You can place order on website with new landline number and then we will port this number later after activation."Question - will the joining voucher still apply if we take route 1?
Answer - I am sorry, but same cannot be apply as its provided by third party only.
Question - so why does my number not match the address on the website appliction?
Answer - Its due to number is shown for other address, but if its Talk Talk number and (probably from BT Openreach), you can port in same later for free of cost.
I dont understand what 'other address' means because we have been at the address for years and it is the provider changing rather than the address.
This just feels bad at the moment... They will not port the existing as part of the application coming from the giftcloud link which makes a mockery of what has been set up by MSE.
Now I am seeing comments about talktalk (my current provider) not having a porting agreement with vodafone.
Why do the providers need an agreement to do what OFCOM say they should?

I had no problems at all when I switched from BT to Vodafone and I did it all on line.
We are all fibre (phone & broadband) and it was virtually seamless, just swapped the connections from the BT router to the VF one and voila, it was all up and running.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
Can you choose the date you want the switch to take place?

Is your exchange a Talk Talk LLU (Local loop Unbundled) one. This can often be the cause of these issues.
With this you are Openreach up to the point of the exchange and then onto Talk Talk back haul and not Openreach.0 -

Hi All, well I had a reply from TalkTalk, they do have a porting agreement with Vodafone.
The porting agreement is required because the number is transferred to a different network.
Although an Openreach line the TalkTalk network is Opal... I have no idea what the network is for Vodafone...
Am glad that keeping the existing landline number has worked well for those that it has.
Until my existing number is recognised as part of the Broadband Genie process our contract will continue with TalkTalk.
My hunch is that the £150 offer for new customers requires a new number so the marketing/sales department figures of Vodafone meet their targets.

I too tried the link offering the £150 voucher.....but on pressing the link.....the offer is only £80!?
Likewise I came across, ''unable to port your existing number''
I went onto the Vodafone webchat, and had to enter my query 3 different times to 3 different operators and wasted an hour of my time I'll never get back.0
