Thanks for all you help an advice guys. Just really gutted now as It’s not something I can pay. The problem is I budgeted for that course as I brought my first house at the time of starting but now I have a mortgage to pay it’s put me in a horrible position where I’ve completed my first year and will have to withdraw from the second year.
But in that situation is it genuinely worth the risk of throwing away £4k and getting nothing vs borrowing (or 'investing') the additional £4k to get the end qualification (and depending on what it is then increasing future earning potential)

I think if it were me I'd make a formal written complaint to the course provider.

But that's easy for me to say.  You may not want to stick your head above the parapet and you may be banging that head against a brick wall anyway...

(Have you considered posting on the "Employment, Jobseeking and Training" board?  Somebody there might have a more informed view of how to tackle a course provider.  If you do post there, explain first that you've been advised from the Consumer rights board to post there - otherwise people will moan about you starting duplicate threads in different places.  And if you do post there include a link back to this thread.  Employment, Jobseeking & Training — MoneySavingExpert Forum )

    I assume its this site?

    https://stcg.ac.uk/courses

Reading this it looks like the price for 2 years really

Why do you think it's that?

(Not being critical by the way!  I'm genuinely interested how you've arrived at that site.)
googled the  course wording and price. found the site with same style as screenshot.

Double check ALL your paperwork, but if nothing states that the fee is for ONE year, then stick your ground and ask for a FULL refund, or the FULL 2 year course for the price you have already paid.

Their advert key facts states that is is that amount for a 2 year course, so that is what they should provide you.

I personally wouldn't back down on this, although I'm stubborn!
    Its not even stubbornness.
Over £3K for half a course that's little use is worth fighting for.

I think the question is what fee information was made available to @jdot1969 when they signed up for the course.

If the course provider says the information was provided and/or the OP ticked a box to say they'd read it, I'd like to know how it was provided to them.

(Does anybody know if T&Cs for providing a service need to be in a durable format, or am I making that up?)

I agree.  If it were me I'd want to see this through to the end.

(I don't suppose the OP is in a student union or a trade union that might be able to provide advice and support?)

Thanks guys yes you’re definitely right I shall be seeing it through! The above policy I’m certain was not given to me and I’ve seen on another college policy this. The fee structure to be transparent. I do not think it was made clear at all.

    Courses with a duration of more than 3 months and total fees above £1200. First instalment of 33% payable at enrolment, second payment and third balancing payment spread equally across the duration of the course but prior to its completion;

This is interesting have they not sought more money a third ot the way through.

Also could you get a copy of your application form.
