Bought a car with no logbook
I bought a car from a large dealership and they said they were waiting on the logbook as they had bought the car from an auction. They provided me a V62 form and reassured me this is normal and that they would post me the logbook once they get it. I did the V62 at the post office, but it can be up to 6 weeks to get the answer.
The road tax checker on gov.uk has it as taxed until 1 July 2022. So I assume I get some insurance done and then it's all fine to drive? Hopefully I get a response from the V62 or the logbook before the 1st. If not I guess I won't be able to drive after that until I get road tax renewed.
Anyone had a similar experience?

How old is the car that you have purchased?
Is it a nearly-new pre-reg where the Dealer cannot sell the car until they have owned it for a certain period, but sold it in advance anyway?
Whatever tax the car had is cancelled when the car is sold to you so, as the buyer, you need to pay for new tax from the date of collecting the car. Often the Dealer would have done that as part of their service to you. If they have not in this case and you cannot tax at the Post Office, then ask the Dealer to sort it.

Otherwise, if you succeed in paying for the tax (you shouldn't be able to as you need the current V5 number, and if you had it you could have changed keeper, taxed it and sorted everything) it will be in the name of the current keeper, and when the new V5 goes through they will get a refund.I don't know what you can do, it can't be a unique situation, you may even have to keep the car off the road until it is registered to you and you can tax it.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

For future reference; don't buy a car with no log book.Even cars at auctions have them.
Basically you can't tax the car until you get the V5, which will take 5 weeks unless the previous owner objects. If the previous owner lost the car due to a repossession you're stuffed.1 -
Tax is no longer transferable. So your car is untaxed. You can’t drive it until you can tax it. That’s the bottom line. If you drive it now you won’t be insured because it’s not taxed appropriately.
