Well done for coming on here and highlighting this. Also accepting the blame in falling for it.That makes a refreshing change where many will not now accept responsibilty for their mistakes.
Many, including myself, think they will never be taken in by these scams. However, the scammers can be very clever and persuasive. Even the most diligent could very well be taken in.

I personally think they are very easy to avoid by having one simple rule "never give any personal information out on an incoming call unless your definetly expecting it and can verfiy the callers identity"

If someone calls selling anything then i'm not interested anyway because i would never buy anything from a cold call as i always do research online for the best options. I have no idea why people who have access to the internet would agree to buy anything from a cold call anyway.

If somone calls up about fraudsters accessing my bank then i don't need to do anything as if they are really my bank they are already aware of the fraud by calling me so they can stop it themselves.

It seems people get offered a good deal or some kind of time sensitive situation and suddenly lose all their common sense and give them everything they ask for and i really don't understand it.

I agree with this 100%. I know I would not fall for this because cold callers do not even get answered, let alone any chance of talking me into something that I hadn’t even thought about before they called. Most scams are down to cold calls of some sort and by having zero tolerance to them the bulk of them are filtered out before they get anywhere. Any others are well-known scams such as “safe account” scams, “refund” scams etc, and are easily spotted before any damage can be done.
