I am begging n pleading someone can help. To cut a long story short left my abusive ex husband with just the kids. Struggled to rebuild us during pandemic so went to step change for dro. I have in this time what I thought had put sticker n chosen my plot from share to buy places for people. Let me Choi’s carpets etc then today told me they won’t consider me. I’m a cash buyer, I requested the dro to be revoked and paid all creditors in full back. Iv sent them all this information but have refused me my home due to my credit score still showing dro. Iv sent every creditors email to them confirming it’s paid in full. I suffer from crippling anxiety and my landlord is selling up. I thought I’d found my secure forever home to have it ripped out from under me today after weeks of letting me believe it was mine. Our section 21 ends in 4 weeks. How do I remove or get creditors to update file? This is not a true reflection of my finances and feel like I’m treated abysmally. Any help anyone clicks offer I’ll be eternally grateful

Hi, I'm sorry but I do find this all a bit confusing. Your credit score is never seen by any lenders so it must be your credit history that's at fault.
You had a DRO arranged by StepChange but then you had enough money which enabled you to revoke the DRO, pay off all your creditors AND choose your house plot with Places for People - AND you are a cash buyer for that plot?
Does that mean that after you took out a DRO you received an inheritance or a windfall? It's not clear where the funds came from to do everything you have done.
Did you tell StepChange that you were revoking your DRO? If you did not go through the proper channels, then it will not be officially recorded anywhere.
You talk about choosing your plot with Places for People and then you say you thought you had found your secure forever home as a tenant with your landlord.
My advice - and it's for you to take or ignore as you think fit for your circumstances - is to contact your council's housing and/or social services department.
You have children and you are shortly to be made homeless. You may even have to wait until the day you're evicted from your rented property before you are given accommodation but your council has a duty to ensure that people with children are housed.
The social services department at your council will be able to advise you about any benefits you may now be entitled to.
You could also contact Shelter, who can help when people are homeless -

I would also get in touch with your adviser at StepChange, if you haven't already, and let them know exactly what's happened.
For your anxiety - which is entirely understandable - you could make an appointment to see your GP. Sometimes just having a chat about it can help. (I know that from experience.)
I've also had a DRO in the past (arranged by StepChange) and I know just how tough things can be.
As I said, please feel free to ignore my thoughts if you wish. I do wish you all the very best for the future. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. You cannot be a homeowner, and have a DRO, the question should be why enter a DRO when you had more than sufficient assets to pay your debts ?
The DRO will show on your file for 6 years regardless of anything else that happens, that cannot be altered.
Your post is very confusing, where did all the money suddenly come from ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Money came from my very lengthy divorce settlement. Up until that point I was struggling financially and have instantly paid off all dro debts once my circumstances changed. I had no idea when this money would materialise. Iv cleared all dro debts and I just wanted some security of a home for me and my 2 children with share to buy/places for people. I admit stepchange helped me get the dro but I was the one to revoke it and pay in full. I was just hoping they may be exceptional circumstances with a housing association.0

Iv sent places for people proof of every creditor paid off in full via email and they still won’t accept my application. I never expected to see any money from my ex husband and the moment I did I paid off all debt. It’s not a true reflection of my finances. I have zero debt.0

Ah, ok, now I get it, Unfortunatly a DRO is a legal form of insolvency, so will show in the public information section of your credit file for 6 years, settling the debts associated with it does not alter that, all that happens is its status is updated to settled, or discharged.
Only time will remove that entry from your credit file, there is nothing you can do about that.
So you are saying you were rejected because the DRO was discovered during a credit check ? but if your a cash buyer, I don`t see why that is a problem ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. To help a bit away from the DRO, your landlord may have issued a S21 but it does NOTmean that you have to leave when it expires. All it means is that the landlord can start legal action to force you to leave, this will take time and even if the court says yes you must go there can be extra ime if you stay and they have to apply to get baliffs to force you out. Thhat is the point where the council are forced to house you. But please pop down to the House buying, renting and selling forum and put a post on there for this part of your problem, as you will get a lot of help there and support in what to do and when. Basically right now you do NOT have to leave, but it is advisable for you to look for somewhere else to rent if you are unable to buy for a while.Credit card debt - NIL
Home improvement secured loans 30,130/41,000 and 23,156/28,000 End 2027 and 2029
Mortgage 64,513/100,000 End Nov 2035
2022 all rolling into new mortgage + extra to finish house. 125,000 End 20361 -
I don’t see the problem either, Iv showed in detail all debtors paid off but they won’t budge on it as it’s government policy?? Their words not mine. The whole process has been handled so poorly. I went through their company rsc at the very beginning before being allowed to choose plot and they wait until 5 weeks in to say I can’t have it0
