Look you don't need to remove it, as I said we had exacyly the same bottle trap and you need to unscrew the cup shaped bit on the bottom, it may be stiff if you haven't done it before, and give it a good clean plus clean up the exposed spout. There is a plastic liner in it which seems to attract all the gunk.1

The pop up waste will almost certainly be designed to unscrew, are you sure you're turning the right way?knightstyle is right - unscrew the cup at the very bottom of the trap, not any of the positions marked on your photo.Good luck.0
