Extremeley slow draining sink (with video)

The sink takes hours to drain after a handwash. The plug you can see in video only comes out as far as can be seen in video. I cannot pull the plug out completely to see what is going on down there. I put a whole bottle of mr muscle pipe unblocker liquid down there yesterday but no joy. It is just a downstairs loo so handwashing only really. No bad smells or anything.

Any ideas bar calling out a plumber?

Can you get to the trap underneath the sink, take it off and clean it?

Plunge it. A hydro pump type always clears it. You usually have to block off the overflow with a thumb for it to work.

    Do you have a plunger?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

The hydro pump plunger, would it work with the plug still in but in that slightly recessed position?

first thing I'd do would be to unsrew the pop up waste, and you'll probably pull out a load of hair, slime and sludge.
if that doesn't solve it, dismantle the u bend and clean it, then re-assemble and try it
then try the plunger if it still hasn't worked

"I cannot pull the plug out completely to see what is going on down there."

My basin in bathroom is exactly the same     The push plug  unscrews from the plug hole
  • As above: grab the plug and turn it to unscrew.

From the top it will not budge when i try to turn by hand or with adjustable spanner. Looking to unscrew from the bottom but unsure where to unscrew (don't want to start unscrewing things more than necessary since some of the connections have been siliconed a bit too). Is it the plastic connection at the top? or the middle arrow?  not the bottom connection is it?

We had one of these wastes and had the same problem, it is the bottle trap full of gunk that is the problem, there is a plastic lining in it.  So grab the bottom of the waste and unscrew it, use rubber gloves to get a grip then remove the plastic lining and clean everything.  I also occasionally used an old toothbrush to clean inside the waste pipe exposed by this.

Unscrew the bottom one and the one going into the wall and remove and clean out the trap - remember not to pour it down this sink !!
Hopefully that will be enough and you won't need to undo the middle one and clean out up above it - I don't like the look of the PTFE tape used on that joint, there should not be a need for it unless it has been used to bodge something.
