Nokia 6300 on O2
I refrained from putting it in the unlock thread, as I'm not asking for codes or anything like that. It's just I'm most probably going to buy this phone on O2, but I'm looking to replace it with an Orange sim; the reason why I don't buy an Orange model being that the Orange model is more expensive.
But to my knowledge, O2 phones aren't normally locked(My previous O2 phone wasn't at any rate). Is this phone on O2 unable to use an Orange sim-card without being unlocked, or can it do so?

Generally phones bought on contract with o2 are unlocked, phones bought on payg are locked.
I have had a contract with them for a number of years and have never had a locked phone. I've also bought a few payg phones from them as gifts and never had a payg phone arrive unlocked.Sigless0 -

I also got one from CPW it to was unlocked as are all their O2 phones or at least the many that I have bought over the years. The trick is to apply for the free O2 Sim cards when they are available and use one of those. Tell the instore guy you want to do a PAYG upgrade saves you paying the £10 for a Sim card and credit. So basically a Sim free phone for a PAYG price.Cheers
