New TV only lasted 14 months

    OP - go back to Argos and tell them you will be issuing proceedings in the Small Claims Court against them (as the retailer). 

    It will then be up to the judge to decide - but I would be surprised if there was a judge in the land who would think it's OK that a £450 TV lasts only 14 months.

    Things do breakdown hence the reason why people like me pay extra money for a piece of mind.

    Dad had a tv, Sony 42 inch rear project - it had awesome sound etc. However, the first tv broke down the second day just would not turn on they replaced it, a massive box. The 2nd one went all funny a couple of weeks later it was replaced and guess what, the 3rd tv exactly the same etc lasted 14 years and dad gave it away still fully working - things do break down and this is why the warranty was extended type is there.

    Perhaps getting a independent report on the fault 1st..

    Could just be a simple fix.
