Supermarkets that sell flowers

What do supermarkets do with the black buckets where they have bunches of flowers? They would be ideal for my tomato plants.

M and S send them back , but would let you have some if you ask. At our store they get taken off at the beginning off the day when new stock arrives but some may be at the end of the day. Just ask in the ones near you .
