Cost of living payment war pensioners left out

My husband is in receipt of war pension and we are struggling at the moment just getting straight after covid.
We feel disappointed that we have been left out of the £650 payment.
We do get housing benefit but the council have said we will be lucky to get £100 from the find they will have and thats only if we apply quickly.
This seems very unfair to us and having read the chancellors speech some of what is stated is just not accurate
Does anyone else on a war pension feel the same?

To be entitled to the £650 you must be claiming one of the means tested benefits listed. Housing benefit isn't one of them but pension credit is. See link. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment
If you're claiming state pension then you will be entitled to an extra £300 on top of the winter fuel payment, as well as the £400 towards your energy bills if you're an energy customer.
There's also the £150 if you're claiming any of the disability benefits listed in the link above.
The £150 for the council tax is paid to all those in bands A-D.

    Many people are left out.

Unless they are in receipt of pension credit ,  a pensioner in receipt on state pension won't get the £650 either. That doesn't mean they are not struggling to cover bills.

A war pension covers a very wide range of people.  On its own it is in no way indicative of a disability or financial hardship.
  • However the linked housing benefit fully visible to DWP is.
I fail to understand how veterans like my husband who receive a pension because he is very ill should miss out when others some who don’t want to work cash in

Fight for what? There’s nothing to fight for.
Not sure what you mean by that.
some people (like park home owners) are campaigning via the democratic process.
everyone is entitled to engage in the democratic process with the aim of change

Meaning that the cost of living support payment such as the £650 is not paid to all households. Claiming housing benefit alone doesn't entitle you to this payment. Pensioners will be entitled to the £300 on top of the winter fuel payment. I don't see this as missing out on anything. Just my opinion, which of course i'm entitled to.
