New Windows

I've had a quote of £5000 for 7 windows - 1850 x 1250 (4 openings, 2 small and 2 large), 1250 x 1250 (2 openings, one large and one small), 2500 x 1250 (4 openings, 2 large and 2 small), 2500 x 1500 (2 small openings at top), and 3 windows 1250 x 1200 (one opening each, full window). The company is a small local one with a good reputation. All window panes will be 4mm thick, A rated, 28mm windows, security locks, bronze coloured handles and wooden internal cills.
Does that sound fair?
Property is a semi. Fitter to remove and dispose of old windows. Insurance backed 10 year warranty.

Two things to be aware of - Prices are going up and up. I got an order in just before another 10% was added to the cost of the frames. From June 15th, a new set of building regs kick in - There is now a requirement for background ventilation, which some installers take to mean trickle vents must be fitted - This is not what the regulations actually say. So if you already have something like a PIV or MHRV system installed, you do not need trickle vents. Her courage will change the world.

I do believe that an update is imminent here too though.0 -

Didn't realise PoGee was north of the border - Having all these different regions, each with their own set of rules is darned confusing at times.

I've just been quoted £2,090 for 2 replacement windows! So £6000 for 7 windows sounds good value.
The quote is for flush fit casement windows, 28mm argon filled, "A" rated sealed units with true Astragal glazing bars. They are heritage style windows, due to the age of the building.10 year guarantee, FENSA registered, removal and disposal of old windows. Retain internal cills and external cills.0 -

PoGee said: If I get an order in now but they're fitted after 14/06/22, do I still need to get trickle vents? Not sure of the requirements for background ventilation up in Scotland... But if you order now and get measured up within the next week, you should be OK.Even if background ventilation is a requirement, you do not need trickle vents as long as there are other sources of ventilation beyond opening a window - Have had this argument with several installers already, and Building Regulation (England & Wales) makes no mention of trickle vents.
