Morning all - chuffed with myself here as not only did we eat on plan last night (couscous with halloumi and assorted veg) I also stuck to my intention of cooking tomorrow night's pizza pasta bake ready to just be thrown in the oven to reheat tomorrow. The pack of pepperoni slices has now come out of the freezer, and half a ball of mozzarella has gone in. I also grabbed out a tub of chilli base ready for this evening - that's been left to defrost in the fridge thus hopefully also bringing the running cost of that appliance down fractionally. I know, it's fractions of pennies, but right now, I'll take it! That will just need the kidney beans added tonight, and some rice cooked which will be done in the microwave. I might rebel and do brown rice with that too - I prefer it, MrEH doesn't, but allowing that 90% of the time I do white for that very reason, I think tonight might be my turn!
I need to make a start on thinking about the weekend's shopping requirements I think. I'll probably look to do Al's again this week - the super-6 offers this week look great - assuming they are both as advertised and in stock in our local store of course! If they are then I could see myself buying one or more of each item - dependant on where the tomatoes come from, and how the rhubarb and asparagus look. It's a veg box week AND a farmers market week - I'll need to decide what we need from the latter so a freezer audit might be a plan, the general supermarket shop should be on the lower side though to balance out those expected spends, but I still expect our spent -v- remaining figure to look a bit freaky by the end of the weekend!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

£317.66 / £600Went to pick something up from Argos last night and ended up spending £43.92 in Sainos stocking up on stuff that Aldi doesn't sell. Just need to convince the gannets not to eat Nairn Cheese Oatcakes at a rate of two packets a day, or to downshift their fancy oatcake habits 😁. Planning to have a NSD.Btw, I don't think my original post of my monthly target ever got posted so here it is again:Monthly target of £600 for groceries, household cleaning and toiletries for 2 adults and 1 young child 😁.5

I don't know why I didn't think of that - yes the cost will get absorbed. Think I'm just so focused on cutting my budget pots that I lose all rational sense
The mental load of keeping on top of all this is hard going isn't it - it puts "household management" on a whole different level of complexity. Some serious skills are needed to juggle, track and make-do with everything.
No spend yesterday or today and hopefully it will stay like that until I need to top up on fresh fruit, veg etc. Got lots in, so there's no excuses.8 -
Only two very small spends since I last posted, Friday and yesterday. Signature has been updated. I have started to get more produce off the allotment so that will help me going forwards and should be able to start giving some to my dds as well.

All our grown-at-home shopping is a bit late this year (after taking a postponed holiday in the Highlands of Scotland) and some squashes have yet to be planted so just salad leaves here. DH planted a row of outdoor cucumbers alongside the climbing bean frame (on the non-bean side) so hopefully they will cling on as they grow (it makes picking them easier). It's an idea we saw at Helmingham Hall, growing squashes on a frame and we tried it with limited success last year.
The decorator also finished painting the outside of the house yesterday so we can move the really big butler sink back and refill it with compost and salad leaves and radishes now, so these will save money in due course.
NSD this week but a list is forming on the Morries website, ready to be ordered or printed, probably not this month though, with the exception of one or two bits. It got so late with no prep yesterday that we had oven chips with poached eggs and baked beans. I always know this will be a hit with DH and it was simple, straightforward and all from stuff we had in.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Another £23.80 spent. 24 tins of beans and two cases of coca cola. The coke DD1 has for work, drinks it when on nights to stay alert. Will last a while, the beans are 4 tins for £1 at farmfoods. Will lose staff discount at the end of this month as DD3 is moving away, so stocking up while i can. Total now at £1267.37/£2640. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6

I have updated my signature but it all seems to have dissapeared again so I am struggling to keep track. Will have to go back to pen and paper to recalculate my overspend this month! What it has taught me is that I need to budget much higher when visitors descend.Dropped into Aldi today and bought some things off of shopping order for next month as they were cheaper. I am beginning to hold prices much better in my head now. This lark is good for the old memory too.
bought 3 swedes for 55p each. They are 80p in Tesco. ( trying to get some frozen as back up veg because hubby likes them and doesn’t eat much veg otherwise)
coco pops for £2.25, I just hoped that’s a good price. I get them in for when the dairy free children come. The cheaper versions have milk in!, 2 lemonades at 23 p each. My little treat. And some other bits. We are going to try their battered cod £3.19 for 4 pieces as the big brands have gone up so much. And got a huge pack of wonky mushrooms for £1.30, some of which will have to go into the freezer that I am trying to clear!🤦🏻♀️Will check totals at the weekend and update signature.craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,
