Got harassed yesterday in Ald1, every aisle had pallets of food in, shelf restocking, it was particularly congested by the dairy/freezers, had to take a step back for some reason and trod on a man's foot, I apologized, and sarcastically commented I hadn`t realised he was so close, water, duck, upshot was I forgot my yoghurt, so had to get new specs this a.m., parked in town, avoiding tosco, called into A1D1 got yoghurt and a small bag of spuds. £1.01Do I need it or just want it.3

Mmmmm, I've just learnt something. In an effort to prove (to myself), how I could claim that the MrL jarred beans are definitely a product of Spain, I had a look at the label just now (and I don't think I can claim they are of Spanish origin, I don't think it says), and noticed that there is an allergy warning - "may contain Lupin or Soya". If it hadn't been for MissRikkiC posting a query about Lupin Beans, I wouldn't have realised the connection.

So, more baked beans! While we are getting staff discount they work out at 21.25p per tin. A saving of 0.75p per tin compared to Aldi. However they also taste better, more beans less sauce. As we had to go into town for animal feed, wormer and anti fly strike treatment I did some shopping. Veg shop, cash and carry, farm foods and Aldi. Total of £95.80. Now stand at £1363.17/£2640. Diesel was over £2 a litre this morning! Town is around eight miles away and the car(minibus) is not very fuel efficient. Shopping trips will all have to be combined and reduced in number going forward I think. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.5

£5.25 added today for bread, milk and more eggs. The hotter weather and busy schedule mean we have eaten off plan. Meals have been egg or beans on toast or meat free pasta dishes that have been whipped up quickly. Lots left in freezer but still seem to be spending as much money!craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

I have another couple of spends to report and quite frankly neither of them could be considered necessary. I visited a pretty market town with a friend today and made the mistake of mooching around nice food shops while hungry. So I spent £8.40 in a lovely bakery on focaccia, sourdough bread and fruit scones and £4.29 on posh chocolate in another shop.
The scones have already been polished off, the focaccia will be nice with some soup for tea tonight and the sourdough can be toasted for breakfast tomorrow, perhaps with some scrambled eggs so it will be all be happily consumed.

Does anyone have any really good cereal bar recipes? Just as another snack option for the children as I rarely buy any prepackaged snacks (too expensive!). So for snacks they have a lot of toast, mini sandwiches, homemade muffins, hummus/cheese/cocktail sausages, oatcakes, milk (for the littlest as eldest not keen - neither are big yoghurt fans) and fruit/veg.I have in the past found that the cereal bars held together with peanut butter work well, and this will be an option for summer, but can’t be sent into school as it’s nut free.Today I tried an oat & chocolate chip recipe. In fairness I made so many substitutions to the recipe it’s probably my fault, but it’s all crumbly and not holding together. Delicious though so we will eat it as granola if I can persuade the kids they like granola 😅
Basically it was meant to be oats, seeds, chocolate chips & puffed rice held together by brown rice syrup & oil. I skipped the seeds as hadn’t any, was going to sub puffed rice for rice crispies but had none so used a mix of Os cereal and corn flakes, subbed in honey in place of brown rice syrup and butter in place of oil…
Will try it again with more of the liquids and less dry ingredients, but thought I’d ask if anyone has a good nut-free cereal bar recipe for me to try in case it doesn’t work!Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

I went shopping today and spent £16.73 at M*rks on bread, yoghurt, fresh vegetables, fruit, frozen vegetables and rubber gloves which makes my new monthly total £28.66/£120 and my average daily spend £1.59. (Ha, much to be said for feeling unwell and decorating the sofa rather than the supermarket!) The baking fund also took advantage of a Sparks voucher to buy some vegan chocolate for £1.50/£20.
