Starting a bit late this month but I've been reading along.
I did a shop at the very end of May - well actually I sent OH to the shop with a list, based on a meal plan - items were set out on the list aisle by aisle .... obviously not detailed enough as he used his initiative 🤦♀️. Anyway, meal plan re-done and that spend deducted from this month's budget. Please can you put me down for £215 for June

Good Morning
No spend day yesterday as keep busy with housework and a bit of work in the garden. Really fancied a chippy for dinner but ended up making chips instead.😍
Got do caught up in watching the Jubilee concert last night I forgot to take meat out of freezer for dinner today...had planned a chicken casserole in slow cooker ...I don't like meat defrosted in microwave so going to have to rethink this one .
Beautiful day where I am today so think it may be a day outside today. Have a few hours work to do on PC so have laptop on charging and will be a outdoor office today lol
Aiming for no spend today again

So far this month I have spent £51.14, nearly £10 of this was on another big bag of wash pods from S@vers at a lower price than the supermarkets, that will see me into next year. I needed to stock up with storecupboard basics like tinned tuna and coffee, and also cheese. Suffolklass, I tried again with the ood yeast and have got two reasonable 2lb loaves. Thank you, it can stay in the cupboard for now. I'll try some fruit loaves/buns next time to use it up. Cutting the loaves in half and freezing means that they should last me until the end of the month at least.
The allotment is starting to produce lettuce, spinach and strawberries but not just for me. Yesterday I saw a squirrel running away from a neighbouring plot with a plump strawberry in its mouth. Cheeky beggar!Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget9 -
Why is when you don't want to spend and have lots of sfds you start wanting things you don't want to buy??
Just been contemplating buying crusty bread, chocolate and ice cream and dog treats (that started it!!) But made myself sit for a bit, look at my bank account and the rain coming down and found I can't really be bothered!!!! But it's a good job it's not sunny£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund6 -
Hi everyone,
So I am going to have to drastically reduce our grocery budget this month as we have just has a quote for some work we need done on our house and it is quite a bit more than I expected!
My original budget of £600 now needs to be cut to £400, £197 of which is already spent. I don't know if this can be done but I need to try. As I said in my previous post we do have a lot of dried lentils and beans in our pantry and the freezers are pretty well stocked but with a 17 and 14 year old plus me and the hubby it will be hard.

Hi everyone, I spent £8.74 since last updated, this included a few things for our afternoon tea, salad, toilet roll and milk, not sure which day I went shopping as it’s half term
and the milk was from DH work Friday. Added to the 84p spent earlier in the week my total is £9.58/150 spent so far. Having a tesc0 delivery tomorrow night, wanted to try and wait a few days longer but have now ran out of fruit, wipes and coffee so it would just add to my spending by waiting anyway. I have added a bag of chilli and curry powder to my order, as the only thing I have left is dried herbs and ginger.
I know many people are in the same boat, I’m finding myself thinking/worrying/stressing more about food everyday. On the plus side, I finally have enough milk to make the dinosaur angel delights that have been lurking in the cupboard for months today6 -
£15 on essentials so I’m down to £194/230 but I went ahead and cancelled Tesco so that’s a saving,as it’s a minimum of £43 inc.delivery.
I really hope I’m going to have some left to put in savings ,as that would make me really happy.8 -
Another month when I will not hit the target I think. Having had 3 Grandsons to stay for 8 days who all eat like adults and then their parents staying for 2 of the days I have nearly spent the months budget! We did all have a lovely time though and although we took the boys to lots of places we did refrain from buying food out and I made up picnics. I have now spent £288.00 out of a predicted £300 to last until 24th June when my new month will start.
I am planning to use up all of the odd bits from freezer and fridge.Meal plan this week
leftover chicken, ham, coleslaw, potato salad and salad stuff
leftover chicken in pasta.Left over ham, egg and chips
5 leftover sausages, mash and beans
Spaghetti and meatballs from freezer.
fry up with bacon, left over potato, tomato and eggs
shepherds pie from freezer.
Not very inventive I know. It might change slightly when I do a fridge and freezer stock take tomorrow. I really don’t want to go over again!!!!! I have decided that doing a very large shop at the beginning of the month is not working so I am going back to one shop a week. It makes me check more carefully before I get more in.
no more visitors until July so hopefully I can keep costs down until then.

Good afternoon All
Popped into MrT’s this afternoon after filling up my car, on the off chance that we’d picked up some YS items. £4.39 spent on YS Finest Sausages (99p), two YS packets of Chicken & Bacon Kyivs (58p each) and 2 YS packets of chicken latices (£1.12 each).
This brings our total spend for June to £7.18/£140, leaving £132.82 for the rest of the month.
Food wise, I could really do with making a trip to L!dl for a veg shop. We’ve been staying at a friend’s for the Jubilee, so I haven’t had the opportunity to do a stock up shop. We’ve got 2 onions left, half a dozen ancient mushrooms, 3 spring onions, 3 large potatoes and 6 wilting carrots. Oh, and no eggs.
On the meal-planning front, we’ll have one of the packs of Chicken Latices for dinner tonight, with some leftover couscous salad. I’ve managed to shoe-horn everything else into the freezer. Dinner tomorrow night will be a Mung Bean Curry with rice, which will also use up a tub of plain yoghurt, together with the mushrooms and a couple of ropy old carrots. Tuesday, if I can figure out what to substitute for eggs - any suggestions? - I’ll turn the rest of the carrots into a Carrot & Cashew Nut Roast with roast potatoes cooked along-side. (It’s a varient on Rose Elliott’s Carrot & Hazelnut Roast.) Wednesday, I will finally get the chance to go to L!dl. If I don’t go, I’m tempted to defrost some mince and make a lasagne, since there’s cheddar and mozzarella in the fridge. Thursday, I’m out, leaving DH to fend for himself. We may end up walking down to L!dl on Friday instead of Wednesday.
Hope you’ve all enjoyed the Platinum Jubilee long weekend. Also, @thriftwizard, belated congratulations to you and Mr Thriftwizard on your anniversary.

I'm another that's blown half the budget already! £98.90 out of £185 and it's only the 5th of the month
Reasons (not excuses): I was planning to drive over to Sheffield for my brother's birthday and stop off at Worksop Sainsbury's on the way home as my vegan friend, her husband and two daughters were going to come and stay for a couple of nights. I thought I could pick up my own shopping for most of the month, and get some cheap vegan food to feed them all without us all having to do too much big cooking or getting takeaways/eating out.WELL, best laid plans etc. My clutch fell apart on the A57 and it took me three hours to get home (thank God for the nice RAC man). By the time we'd got back, dropped the car at my garage for what sounds like a very crunchy and expensive repair, got dropped back myself, got changed, found my friends, etc, etc, I was completely knackered and still had no food in the house let alone vegan. So I did a half-panicked Sainsbury's order for the stuff I needed (£50-odd quid) and then we topped that up with two trips to the Co-op, one to the deli, and two sets of meals out. It was a lovely weekend and I don't begrudge it in the least but oh bloody hell I'm skint already and it's only five days inGrocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200
