I did the same thing with the hot water. I turned the boiler down to 50C then every 3 days changed the timer for hot water heating. Got it down from 90 mins to 40 mins a day now. Gone from around 75KwH a week to about 30kWh, that includes the hob too.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

@Mstty thank you - I missed that reading it on mobile! We are not allowed solar panels where we live sadly. And when we moved house, Air source heat pumps were just prohibitively expensive.Good thing we’re happy reading by candlelight in our house 🤣 although it does bump up the opticians bills!0

@Alnat1 ha good point. We are having significant building work done currently but all lighting is being upgraded with LEDs and B energy rated appliances and above.
we also only used to have half rotten single glazing and single pane radiators so I’m hoping with new rads & double glazing we should notice higher efficiency. Although I’m not sure it covers our outlay, we should notice the difference in consumption.0 -
Noticed a difference when i changed my TV, my old 50 inch plasma used around 400w where my new LED 55 inch uses less than 100w.
Don't have any fancy graphs but i have got my usage down to 1.6 kwh a day including using the oven but i do have solar panels.0 -
My fridge and freezer are 20 years old so i expect i could do better but with solar its only their usage at night that counts.0

Same for me Benny, got an old fridge and freezer in garage as overflows for the small kitchen fridge/freezer. The solar and battery covers the leccy so seems pointless to renew them. The garage fridge is also where the tortoises spend their 3 months of hibernation so I can't ever not have it lol.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Mrs_F_2017 said:@QrizB any tips on how you get your electric so low? We’re also gas water and no heating currently. As Mstty says:Self-consumption was around 4kWh/day in April, a good part of that being diverted to hot water. I'll crunch the numbers for May once the month is over.Mstty said:He has solar panels listed in his signature👍
Would be interested to know the full figures taking solar out though @qrizB

I've not changed my habits this month and here are my stats. I think the weather plays a lot in to it.1
