Had accounts with Kent Reliance in the past (years ago) and they were OK. More recently had accounts with Charter and they were OK too. Just yesterday opened two accounts with Zopa for the first time and was very impressed. Transfer of funds into easy access and 1 year fixed rate were very fast. I like the easy access account as you can split your money into different pots with different notice periods (7 days, 31 days and 95 days each paying higher rate than the funds left in the easy access part of the account). At the end of each notice period you can move funds into the instant access part of the account, restart the notice period or move some or all of the funds into different notice pots. Once all my funds are in I will split them between different pots

That sounds very good. Good rates atm too.

    Will check them out.

    Thanks for that.

Zopa only pays interest at maturity.

Not so - "Interest is calculated daily and paid into your Fixed Term account once per month".

I'm just going on what it says on MSE.
However, if the money is paid into the fixed term account, then it's as good as 'on maturity' as you can't access it until it matures. Whereas the others, you can have the interest paid into an external account

Just a pity those zopa notice account rates are less than what chase are offering on instant access

If "rates" are out of the equation.   I'd go for the one(s) that I already have an account set up with.

So probably any, via the Raisin platform.

That said, I can be persuaded to open other new accounts, if the price is right!  B)

It would appear that having hopped off the merry-go-round...I'm getting dragged back onto it!   Worse problems to have.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • Opened my second KR account on Friday.  No problems at all.

    Very good idea.

Will have a look at some of those banks you mention.

    Thanks for your help.
With a fixed rate you park your money, earn the interest, withdraw the money after the fixed term….or at least that’s what I do. Not exactly sure what customer service you’re expecting to need. Only used Zopa out of these three options and never had a problem
