My Mum only made rice pudding - I don't remember her ever making macaroni milk pudding, so I didn't know that anyone did until after we were married - I suggested making macaroni cheese for tea and my husband gave me a very strange look and said "But macaroni's meant to be a sweet pudding, not savoury!":D

As one who was born at the very end of the 40's, yes, I remember macaroni pudding too. In fact I remember thinking how very odd it was the first time I met macaroni as a savoury dish in my late teens!
Haven't eaten macaroni pudding since getting married (1970!) and absolutely love macaroni cheese these days!

Not syrup, but jam - decades ago though - at home with my parents.

I remember occasionally having yorkies with blackcurrant jam and evap milk. But I still prefer yorkies as a savory.

    OMG, how bizzare!
I'm a homecarer so see lots of 'mature' ladies (and men) everyday, last night on my round one of my ladies mentioned her macaroni pudding, i have never in my life heard of it, she gave me the recepie and i might try it as my son LOVES pasta.
I think it is pretty bizzare that the next day there i see a thread about it!

  • Yes, macaroni pudding featured in my past, and yorkshire pudding with syrup on - yum.

A pudding really to die for is yorkshire pudding with homemade raspberry vinegar. No , I haven't got a recipe, my dad used to do it some 60 years ago and he's not around any more to ask. But then we were a weird family we loved apple pie and Wensleydale cheese, or fruit cake and cheese and I love cheese and marmalade sandwiches to this day.
