1. What trade affiliation memberships should I look for
2. Are there any gov regulatory bodies that the trader needs to be a memberof/affiliated to
3. What should I look for (good/bad) when they give me a quote
4. What are the really important questions I need to ask
5. Batteries - any comments on appropriateness and type nd anything else
6. My utility supplier - where doI begin here (I am with Octopus)

They are all so busy you will be lucky if they reply and expect a 3 month wait for install.Aim for an install price of £1 per Watt, But most are now getting £1.30 at the cheapest.Green Ethical money saving

Have a look at this website:

My advice, based on two installations, is choose local. Local installers are known to your DNO, and easier to deal with if there any post installation issues. There are now a small number of accreditation services that installers use but Octopus, for example, insists on MCS Certification if you want SEG payments.
To claim SEG, you will also need to provide post installation sign off by the DNO. The supplier will then apply to the DNO for an export MPAN.0 -
I looked on Which as I trust their recommendations much more than Trustatrader type sites. They don't have very many listed though, which says a lot.
If you mention area of the country you're in, some on here might be able to help.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Forgot to mention, Which have a page of questions you should ask.
I'm no expert, we only had our system installed in early March but soon realised extra battery capacity would have suited us better. We have 2 x Pylontech 2.4 batteries, so 4.8 total and pre-clocks changing this was not quite enough to cook dinner and see us right through the night before the sun got going again on our SW facing roof (9am).
At this time of year though, it's no problem at all and the late evening sun means we get the good rates on Octopus Outgoing Agile.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
