I dont have one and TBH I cant understand why anyone would want a TV that's tied to a single supplier and subject to their whims.
They only need to decide that they haven't sold enough to decide to cancel the whole project leaving you with a crippled set. Just my opinion you understand.
As an aside, I got a flyer from Richer Sounds yesterday, offering a 50" Panasonic HDR TV for £250 and a 58" one for £299, with prices like that why shell out for an unknownNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

You saying sky are liable to stop selling the tv and there packages, when every council house will have one?? Dont think so my friend and isnt Samsung a single supplier.
Yes i also saw the Richersounds deals,i always buy from them, perhaps they will help Sky out with some sales.
Hope you never bought a Firestick.

Hope you never bought a Firestick.Sky have already been liable to stop making previous equipment, so Glass will eventually drop out of favour, much like Sky+HD and Sky+ before it already has, as did analogue TV broadcasting. That's just the way the system works.Glass doesn't require whatever you're referring to "when every council will have one" (communal satellite dish?), it uses an internet connection. Not sure what your Firestick comment is referring to?0 -
I didn't say that SKY "would" stop making or supporting the GLASS TV them but they "could" especially as its a bit of a niche product dedicated to SKY and really require tem to sell in sufficient quantity to make the project viable in the longtherm.
You also have the disadvantage that you'd be stuck with SKY if you want to keep using it even if SKY decided to crank up the costs. If I decide that I dont want to pay for SKY anymore I can stop using the box and use any other provider. I'd guess that you cant easily do that with a dedicated SKY tv.
I'm not sure about your comment about councils and council houses, although they may be festooned with SKY dishes I'd doubt that many have or even will lash out on a SKY GLASS tv
Actually we do have a Firestick, it cost us £15 several years ago and plugs into any of our TV's which is not quite the same as spending £400-£600 on a TV that only works with SKYNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Can you explain to me how it only works with Sky,i believe it also has an aerial input that will give you Freeview should broadband fail.Or you cancel the contract.
So my reading says not limited to sky, just like my sky q box.0 -
TBH I dont really care enough about SKY GLASS to keep this going. It's really up to you. If you've been persuaded by all the advertising that they are a good idea, then by all means get one.
I wont because of the reasons that I've stated but in the the end it's your decision.
I would however add that there don't seem to be many others who care enough about it either to join in the conversation which should give you some idea of how popular they are - just my opinion you understandNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The reviewers "in the know", don't rate the Sky Glass sets. See the review at Sky Glass TV (65-inch) Review | AVForums
I believe it had the lowest ratings for picture quality.0 -
