Sure internet - contract early exit

Hi,

I need a bit of advice. I'm stuck in a contract with Sure internet, they provide broadband services to the Channel islands and Isle of Man. I was living on the Isle of Man from August 2021 when I started the contract with Sure, due to unforseen circumstatnces I have moved to the UK where Sure don't provide a service so I was unable to take it with me.

Unfortunately they don't have an early exit fee, they call it their contract buy out clause which actually just requires you to pay up to the end of the contract.

So I'm stuck with them demanding I pay approximately £750 for a service they aren't even providing.

Is there anything I can do?

There have been lots of threads on this subject and generally the answer is the same - Probably not.

Most providers have an Early Terminaton Fee or something similar if you move or leave them. However some of them will waive it if you take on another contract at your new address.

The fact that they cant or don't provide service where you are now living isn't really their fault. You could try asking them but you did agree a contract with them and you are the one who is breaking it.

Thanks for the reply, not the answer I was hoping for but also not surprised. I do realise that it's myself breaking the contract, unfortunately due to the nature of where we were living it was either go with this option or have no internet.

Anyway, I've politely emailed via their complaints address and hope they will show some compassion... not holding my breath.
