Car Warranty after writing off car

I bought a used car in Feb 2022 and purchased a 3 year warranty with it at the cost of £850
After a car accident the other week the car is now written off and I'm in the process of getting a new one.
I contacted the dealership about what my rights are with this, I'd be happy to transfer to my new vehicle or get a refund pro-ratad but they told me that there was nothing they could do as I was over the 14 day warranty period. In the Ts&Cs there's nothing about what happens if the car is a total write off as mine was so I'm not really clear on where I stand.
I wouldn't mind but £850 outright was a huge outlay and given I sadly only had the car for what 2 and a bit months, I got no use out of it whatsoever as I'd have been covered under the standard guarantee the dealership provided anyway!
Does anyone know what you can do in these situations as I can't find any info online and to just have no warranty and no sort of funds recouped just seems a bit crackers in the circumstances!
Thanks in advance

As the warranty was almost certainly useless anyway, the position hasn't really changed. The majority of them have so many exclusions it is almost impossible to find anything they do cover.
Did you pay the stickered price for the car? If they have given you a discount off that price as part of deal that includes you buying that warranty, I imagine their argument would be that if they have to refund it they wouldn't have given you the discount off the car.0 -
Warranty dies with the car if you are beyond the cooling off period and there is no terms around transfer.0

Whilst 3rd party warranties don't cover everything that some people expect, they are far from useless for some people. Sweeping derogatory statements don't add any value to the topic.
Typically the T&C's do restrict the transfer from one vehicle to another, and often also exclude the transfer to a new owner as well. Some however do allow one or other or both, you need to read the terms.
Maybe if you buy a new car of the same model, colour and age you could claim you have changed the numberplate (assuming the VIN wasn't registered) ;-)0 -

"It does what the terms state" as you put it, neglects to consider what happens if the terms dont state what happens. Hence my wording which was that if it says you can transfer/cancel etc then you can subject to those terms whereas if its silent on the matter the policy simply expires.0 -

If the warranty is with a 3rd party rather than directly with the garage which supplied the vehicle, it could be worth contacting the insurer to ask if it can be transferred. I do know of people who have successfully claimed on this type of extended warranty, but I've never had cause to have work which would be covered by a warranty done on a car in the past 20 years. For me it's money well saved by not taking one out.

Read the T&C's if you did not read them already.
at 850 for three years it cheap unless you have a base model ford ka or similar.0 -
Read the terms and read them again, nothing stated on this eventuality with them.Believe it or not if the answer was in the terms I’d hardly be throwing the question out there!
wouldn’t have written there’s nothing in the Ts&Cs either!0 -
You haven't said whether the warranty is with the garage or a third party?0
