It's a strange world we live in. I can never believe the number of people who openly boast of the amount that they have fraudulently claimed for whiplash. The only thing you can do is to join in. Looks like 91000 have joined this scam. At least VW did something wrong unlike the hoteliers who were suddenly bombarded with claims from British holidaymakers for food poisoning. Biggest crooks are the people behind these scams.

We only realised we could be part of the claim much later as we’d sold our diesel before this all came to light. :(
Nobody cares its all just money grabbing.  Quantify your loss.

It is a very sad world we live in at the moment.
It’s hard to quantify it .
but let’s just say due to the story’s and problems associated to having a VW that’s had the software update at a vw dealership you sold you car for 7 grand that car may have fetched 8,9 or 10 grand without the bad publicity.
this is one of the points never mind driving round killing the planet a little more then you wanted to.
so many reasons lots of people who own these cars will lose a few quid when it comes to selling them onwards .
so if it’s not the owners and somebody else is to blame for this loss then they have a right for to this be rectified.
Also people suffering mechanical problems having had the updates it’s not fair they have to pay for the repairs when not at fault this can run into the £1000s sometimes.

So lots of people have very good reason not to be happy with the very expensive purchase they made unbeknown to them what was going on under the bonnet with trickery and naughtiness
Evidence over that past number of years clearly suggests this didn't really happen. Used car sales have remained very buoyant and use VW sales have remained unaffected.
Perhaps, but either way it's extremely difficult to prove diminished value in the UK. In the US it's normal to claim for it, say in the even of an accident, but in the UK you would have to somehow prove that you lost money *at the time of sale*. Until you sell it is only considered a potential loss, and when you do sell it's hard to prove anything.

  • I too, would be interested in VW Emissions claims. I claimed with a London legal firm in 2015, as I then qualified. However, this company now inform me that I did not confirm my email address, which is not true.  I suspect that it was because I live in Scotland and my claim would not qualify under the recent VW England/Wales Settlement.  My question is " am I too late to claim and are there any groups in Scotland who are still active on registering claims"

IIRC Scotland has a 5 year statute of limitations, as opposed to the 6 years in England. So unless you already have a claim going through the court system you are likely too late.

I don’t understand how the Solicitors have closed the case without consulting the claimants. Something doesn’t  sit right with me.

I'd guess the agreement the claimants signed would have given the solicitors the right to settle.

Rather like your car insurance policy, where you give the insurer the right to make or fight claims in your name and to settle on your behalf.

It seems from the other tread that you are a claimant. If so, you can just read what you agreed to.
