  • Ahh yes I remember reading you give an update about this now. Unfortunately our fix ends in Sept so I will no doubt go on variable and ask E.on to just bill us for what we use too. Thanks for sharing this. It's sad that things are coming to this, I know we will all come out of it at some point I just hope we don't have to suffer too much to get there.

    Morning :)

Busy day so far! So much for Sunday being a day of rest 😂
Me and DD were up at 6am to begin the move of livery yards. Fully mucked out stable, a soul cleansing sorting out and binning of anything not used in the last 6 months and a loaded car! Arrived at the new yard at 8.45am and have set up camp with everything in its place. Arwen was not amused getting back onto a horsebox as at the moment she only travels in one when heading to the vets to be poked and prodded so I don't blame her. Thankfully she got on after a few minutes so no major disruption to the schedule there :) Put her straight out into the girly field where they all naturally started prancing about after her but soon settled back to eating!

Home for 9.40am where a damn good shower was needed AND COFFEEEEEEE, before heading out to get our weekly L!dl shop done. I won the guessing game against the kids as to how much the shopping would cost this week. Was only 20p off! Shopping was £41.39 for the week and we have reduced meat meals to just one being a korma curry for Friday :) It would have been a good few quid cheaper but I bought some syrup for cheap pancakes and some cheap £1 pizzas as back up food.

Heading back out now to our local pet shop as we need 4 bags of shavings for Arwen's new bed (stable is currently naked) and her food! This will more than likely come to around £50. No other massive plans for the day other than taking the pooch for a walk to our local dog park seeming as the weather is rather glorious at the moment and some final housework before heading back to work tomorrow. Have enjoyed a week off from work but I am ready to get back to a routine!

Made a PAD to CC2 this morning of £9.20 from Prolific. Definitely won't be making this amount again for a good while because I will be back at work :( Hopefully I shall have a few bits of spare change from roundups at the end of this period to pay a bit more off CC2 but the foot has definitely been taken off the pedal for the time being. x

@Squirrelz92 toffee-nosed types are usually horrifically insecure, I find.  Not that I'm ill-wishing anyone but I do some very part debt coaching for a charity.   The number of people in big houses with flash cars on the drive who are one pay cheque from total disaster - or more likely, deep in it because they (and the banks and credit card companies) thought that nothing would ever go wrong in their case and they are totally maxed out on high interest rates with no savings when say they lose their jobs following a pandemic - is hard to overstate.  People like this often rely on external appearances to bolster their self-esteem.  Well done for being the bigger person.  You are probably one of the few representatives of
reality in their lives and they don't know how to deal with that.  You are fab; keep going love Humdinger xx
  • Great idea to store up your PADs and then transfer what you can to the card!

Well done on being the bigger person. Unfortunately with people like that sometimes it doesn't matter how nice you are they will always be rude! Agree with what humdinger has said. She is probably deeply insecure. Just keep your chin up!

  • Good for you for sucking it up. Be proud of yourself. The more the practise letting her remarks go over the top of your head the easier it will become xx

Thank you so much for your kind words @Humdinger1, @sunshine_raincloud and @Deleted_User. I don't know why people choose to purposefully be nasty. The equestrian community is sadly known for its 'my horse is better than your horse' attitude so it sucks when you actually come across someone with this mindset and have to deal with it every day! I suppose it is a blessing in disguise that I can't do any proper work with Arwen until next year now as when I started reschooling her the last time I was at this yard, she couldn't keep her mouth shut with how I am apparently doing it wrong and I should try her way as its the proper method bla bla bla. Can't wait for her to loudly mutter something nasty as I walk past... totally her style and completely pathetic.

On another note, I am continuing to try to find a way to save as much of my salary as possible (not a lot with everything going on now) and I had a thought. Probably won't work but I shall write it here none the less so I can laugh at myself later on! After all main bills have vanished into their pots, this month I was left with £339. If I add on all additional income due to me before the next payday being 2nd Sept, I have £905. Take £200 off for fuel, £170 for food shopping, that leaves me with £535. Take £80 for birthday pot, £21.60 for dog grooming, £53.32 for farrier and I am then left with £380. This money is what I have left to spend over 4 weeks including purchasing shavings and dog food which is roughly £49 all in. Sadly it isn't all quite as straight forward as this as the income I receive is staggered so I couldn't fill all these pots from my salary alone in one go. However, I worked out that I could give myself a daily allowance for the remaining figure left to last me 4 weeks. If I don't spend my allowance for the day I could put it into a pot so it's there if I need it but also there as a potential OP to CC2... With money due for the remainder of the period added to what I have left in my bank at the moment I am looking at a daily allowance of £10.58 a day to spend. It's very a hit and miss technique I suppose but I might see if I can work it out.

    Morning :)

Another bright and glorious day. Always helps put you in the mood when getting up at 5am to sort the horsey. Luckily I am an early riser anyway so I don't mind. Turns out that my automatic water drinker in the stable is faulty so I have turned that off at the mains and have gone back to a good old fashioned big bucket. Granted it's not the easiest to drag from one end of the yard to the other when it's full but at least I won't run out of shavings as quickly as they were sodden underneath the drinker this morning. Also didn't help that Arwen wouldn't go through the gate into the field as the are a few rather dominant characters in the field blocking the entrance. Don't blame her at all as its like someone trying to throw you into a crowd full of bullies :( Managed to chase them off with my grizzly roar so she could quickly squeeze in. The farrier is coming to do her feet today so the £80 saved in that particular pot shall disappear. Feels so good knowing I already have it saved to one side. Before all these pots I genuinely don't know how I functioned financially! I used to pray I had enough in my current account to pay for a lot of things, probably one of the reasons why so many random purchases have ended up on both my CC's.

Small PAD again of £1 into the CC2 pot ready for depositing if finances are all ok at the end of the period.

Not much else to report! I NEED A KICK UP THE BACKSIDE FOR STUDYING! 4 weeks until my exam and I feel as though I may as well go and sit an exam I have ever studied for in my life! Not good! Doesn't help though when you feel so unmotivated and flat about careers and what you want to do with your life :( x

Morning! I've just read though your diary and subbed :) You're doing amazingly :)

We do the same thing with our kids - ship them off to the grandparents for a week in the summer - they love it! I work in schools and get the holidays off so don't need it for childcare, but it is so nice to have a week off from everything!

For the lady at the yard - start thinking up some phrases that you can loudly say to your horse if you get a snide comment...something that is obviously aimed at nasty lady, but sound like you're talking to your horse.
I can't take my husband into supermarkets as he starts loudly saying things like 'what an amazing place to park your trolley', 'I could get my coach through that gap', or 'why does everyone want to walk at 1mph?'

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my diary @lhead123 :) Genius idea for the horse comments 😂 I often make similar comments at the supermarket too so shouldn’t be too difficult to naturally come up with something special for the not so lovely lady if needs be 😝

It really is nice to have a week without the minions, even if I am still working throughout! Allows you to reset a little I think :) x
