Many thanks @Deleted_User! She had a great day even though she had to go to school :) She hasn't let go of her new box of fancy pens and her Encanto colouring book! It's my sons turn next (1st August). Luckily I already bought his present so I dont have to panic which is a lovely feeling! It's so nice having control over finances. Before I would have been worried that I wouldn't have enough in the bank to cover everything, but the difference it has made just setting aside £20 a week into a pot is truly incredible!

My children have their 'step up' day at school today. They both get to spend the full day transitioning into their next year group ready for September. Cannot believe my eldest is moving into year 6! Where has time gone?!?!?! SATS!!!! EEK!! Fingers crossed they like their new teacher and all goes well :)

My PAD today was small being £1.59 but I didn't want to go too overboard with my DD of £25 going out to CC2 tomorrow. Doing well so far on the PAD's I think. I spend wayyyy too long at work calculating all possibilities of what I need to pay off and when to get rid of this CC2 debt before Jan 2023 (when 0% interest runs out). I need to pay £262 each month to clear it in 7 months. After paying the DD of £25, the minimum PAD for the month totalling £30 and making the penny round up overpayment of £20, I need to make a bulk overpayment of £187 to clear in time :) I think this is doable. Heck, hopefully my extra PAD's will reduce this end of period OP to make it easier! Who knows!

  • I’m always trying to look at the budget to see what’s needed to clear the card. It gets a bit obsessive for me.

Hope the kids have a great step up day! So pleased you’re feeling in control of your finances, it really does make a difference!

Keep at the prolific surveys, it’s all extra :)

    Morning folks,

Short and sweet entry today :) PAD of £25 to CC2 as this is my monthly direct debit.
Partner paid his share of the bills today so that puts £150 into my current account, but at the same time all my pot transfers also occur on a Thursday so that's roughly £50 worth.

Its my Mum's birthday next week so I need to send her a card and a big bunch of flowers! My grandma is also coming next Tuesday to look after my two so I can work. School finishes on the 19th but naturally there are no holiday clubs until the following Monday so it was either taking it as holiday or begging for someone to watch them for three days :) Thankfully it doesn't take much and won't be too strenuous on my grandma as the kids are happy occupying themselves. x

  • I usually use M&S for flowers, always free delivery and they have some wonderful arrangements. :)

Small update. I have now paid both my insurance excess amounts for the horses vet bills totalling £320. I’ve used funds from my EF which I will build back up over time. That plus also using £50 from there to pay for an equine physio as part of the rehab process. Feels like a weight has been lifted after paying those as it’s a good chunk of money.

Shall change my EF status and just wait and see to what the vets bill me after the insurance pay their 83%!

    Morning,

PAD made of £2.76 to CC2 :) Still no real results with Prolific and have just under £4 in my balance. Need a few more studies to cash it out. So close to breaking the 10% total debt barrier. I am hoping if I get to make a bulk overpayment on the 4th August this will push me just over the threshold! May be tricky as I have booked the first week in August off as holiday to spend a week with the kids during the summer holidays so whilst I normally don't tend to splash out a lot anyhow, there will still naturally be more money spent that particular week than any normal week.

Decided to sign up to life insurance with nearly hitting the grand old age of 30. I had it before but was sold it with my mortgage and I ended up with all the bells and whistles costing nearly £50 a month (no idea how I ended up agreeing to that....). So now my new policy costs me £9.13 for a payout to both beneficiaries (DS and DD 50% each) if I should get hit by a bus. Such a lovely topic.

Moving on, I have been head hunted for a accounts role which surprisingly enough I am actually interested in. I know that I am incredibly fortunate working where I am now compared to the company prior to this (complete opposite). I didn't have any interest in even looking for another job, but with inflation rising at the rate it is and wages not moving in the right direction, I suppose a lot of people may be looking for better paid positions to keep up with the cost of living. This position is a mix of both costing and management accounts which is perfect for me! That plus an 8k pay rise from what I am on now and its the same commuting distance, it's making it hard not to say yes for an interview. I am happy here (bar one person making me feel so self conscious and crappy), but you can never shut off other possibilities if it means helping you on your way to a better career and a better lifestyle?

  • You should definitely say yes to an interview, it's not just for them to see if you're right for their role, but to see if their company is a right fit for you and your needs.  You can always turn it down if they offer and you don't want to leave your current role but £8k in this financial climate will be fab for you!

Let us know what you decide to do!
