Washing Away My Debts By 2024

Morning folks,
First up, I've made a PAD of £5 to CC2 this morning..
In more depressing news, the vets rang regarding me chasing how much I owe after insurance has paid their figure. Because it is an ongoing treatment the form has yet to be sent to the insurance company... Not ideal considering she is going back to the vets tomorrow for the day for another continuation claim and to start a new claim for a different issue. They have said if I could pay both excess amounts as soon as possible then once the insurance pays out they can send me a final bill for what I then oweSo, that big juicy overpayment to CC2 is now looking as though it may have to be turned into an insurance excess payment
I don't want to pay this at the moment in fear of what will happen with my car tomorrow once it has been put through its service and MOT. I have £1000 in my EF but I have an awful feeling this may suck up the vast majority, if not all of it. That plus £100 of it needs to be paid to my horse transport lady... Once again, another bump in the road at period end preventing me from making a big payment
On a plus note, payday in 3 days!!!!Debt Remaining: £8,781.53

I think that it's great that you have the emergency fund and that you didn't pay the lump sum to your credit card at the beginning of the month and then be left with nothing much, like I used to do.

Morning
Daily PAD made this morning of £4 to CC2 rounding my current account balance to a lovely looking £200. Today is the day of my MOT and full service. Praying to the gods all goes well! The garage where I have booked my car in is a 5 minute walk away from where I work which is really handy as I did worry about losing pay over having to take half a days leave if I used my normal garage.
Ended up giving myself quite the pep talk on my lunch break yesterday as I started panicking about what to pay who first etc. Came to the conclusion after arguing with me, myself and I that my car comes first. Without this, I am screwed for everything else so it doesn't matter how much it costs, she shall be fixed today! If I have spare funds left over in my EF then that's a bonus. Ideally I would love to pay another chunk off CC2 but I know I also need to pay my 2 lots of insurance excess and my horse transport lady. I won't have enough to pay both in the current account come Thursday so I shall have to use a smidge from my EF to cover it. But at least then they are paid and out of the way. I spoke to the vets regarding how to pay my balance once I have been issued another invoice with the remaining balance and she couldn't give me a clear answer. Was hoping for the option of a payment plan with it being so much money but I am getting the 'want it all there and then' vibes. Praying that isn't the case as nobody has that sort of cash dancing about waiting to be spent!
Studies are seriously lagging! Keep saying 'tomorrow I will'. Tomorrow comes and i sack it off to do something else. In all fairness I did do a ton of housework and dug up my front garden and replanted my lavender and hydrangeas so it wasn't like I was sat in front of the TV. Sucks that I can't keep my study book open at work! They are quite hot on their heels about studying whilst in the office. Shame really
Two days until payday! Tried to work out what I think I am getting as my autoenrollment for NEST started last month so I am guessing I will receive the same as I did at my previous job which hurts but I have to remember that I get paid 13 times instead of the standard 12 with being paid 4 weekly.
Need to do a final period total for what has been paid off these last 4 weeks on all debts for a summary. Started this at work but just need to add the last few days worth to it. x

Keep going you're doing great! Good that you kept that money back and didn't chuck it on the card so that you are able to cover the vets bill and car expenses in cash! Hoping it doesn't work out as too expensive for you on both fronts. The vet should really let you set up a payment plan! I don't know much about keeping a horse but can imagine bills can be extremely pricey! Have you got good insurance? Is it worth bumping it up a bit if you are going to need to carry on using it regularly? Like I say I don't know much about it but just a thought!Debt free November 20222

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for a low car spend! You're right, she has to be a priority spend so you can get to and from work.Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25711

Isn't it weird how you get some good news relating to finances and the first thing you want to do is jump up and down on here writing about it!
So I got a video sent to me from the garage whilst my car was still up in the air (literally) explaining what my car had failed its MOT on and showing other advisories. I failed on having a small cut on one of my tyres which didn't affect the use of it! It's essentially an artificial wound that hasn't been dangerous at all but automatically makes you fail your MOT. £87.32 to replace the tyre on top of the £180 (give or take a few pence) and there you have it! Total car expense of £267.32 shall come out of my EF and that's that panic over! Hurrah! So chuffed as I thought it was going to be sooo much worse. Had this car for 5 years and I have failed two MOTS including this one; the first being for a bulb costing £6 to pass MOT! Love it to pieces and will be so sad when it starts to jack in.Debt Remaining: £8,781.53

This is brilliant news! Like others have said what's important is that you have cash avaliable to pay for it upfront. You must be over the moon. You might need to be quite assertive with the vets and ask what payment plan options they offer rather than waiting for them! I don't see how they can refuse you, if you can't pay upfront they should support that.
Fingers crossed they are helpful! X2 -
OMG!!! That's brilliant news - and a result for the remainder of the EF I'm guessing? Absolutely agree about finance news and coming on here to share... I've just updated as I've cashed some more out of Prolific - nothing in comparison to your news but I'm still happy
