uyer keeps emailing.. now claims item not recieved

Hi
i've never had ny problems at all with selling on Ebay. On friday a guy won an auction for some sweat pants.. and has not stopped emailing me since!
Every day there have been 2-4 emails asking where the pants are.. despite me telling him they were posted Monday morning & i have a reciept.
Today eh emailed again, and said they hadn't arrived- so could i phone the P.O?
Then he emailed 4 times to demand I phoned them!
I have everyone in the house with a sicky bug today, including me and a toddler.. so he's starting to irritate me.
What do i do if it's not arrived?
How do i know hes telling the truth?
I don't know what i'm supposed to do, so please can someone advise me?
many thanks!

the post office wont even consider looking into until 28 days (i think)when i think it is classed as officially lost.
you need to tell this character that the post is very busy at the moment and things take a litttle longer.

i know its a pain when soemthing turns up late/ doesn't arrive, its happened to me before, but the way he's carrying on anyone would think I'd lost the crown jewels!

  • Royal Mail say to wait 15 working days before claiming an item is lost -

Your buyer sounds like a right pain in the bum, I feel sorry for you, some people expect miracles.

If he does claim still not to have received the item after 15 working days then all you can do is refund him and claim from Royal Mail, you won't know if he is telling the truth or not, the only way to cover yourself in future is to send stuff out Recorded Delivery.

Unfortunately there will always be impatient buyers, I have one myself and had to refund yesterday less than 2 weeks after shipping..and mine was to the US!

Any buyer can start a chargeback for item not received from as early as day 7 after payment, the seller then has 10 days in which to either refund or prove delivery using online tracking, if seller cannot do that then buyer wins and the money is refunded. So basically the buyer can get a refund 17 days fter payment regardless of when item was shipped and where to.

Pesonally I would continue to liaise with this buyer but try and get him to remain patient for a few more days and maybe refund him in week 2 if he will wait that long.

The Royal mail claim though cannot be started until 15 working days after the posting date on the receipt, so in virtually all cases the refund must be made even before the RM claim can be started.

Tell him it's bloody christmas and there are backlogs, and to not be so damn impatient!

Honestly, at this time of year buyers want the moon on a stick.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

I wouldnt reply to him......... It sounds like the kind of person who:

    - Expects miracles
    - Doesnt give feedback except bad
    - Is a P R I C K

Dont email him again, if he gets the item then okay, if not then he can sod off. I would consider giving him bad feedback to cover yourself so he has no choice but to withdraw his (probably pending if he recieves said item or not) bad feedback mutually.

Iv had two people like this. Iv dealt with them in this way and it works and Iv never refunded as I consider it compo for the other person annoying me! Its easy to say "be kind, patient and nice" to ebayers and 99.9% of the time im just that. Most ebayers are lovely people, pay promptly, recieve item, give feedback and if there are any problems they are polite about it and I sort them out straight away. Il often throw another similar item in too if there was a delay or something went wrong.

However this mug has a handle!!!
  • I always put two payment prices, one for normal first class and another for recorded delivery.. then it is up to the buyer to choose.. I also put a message in the lisiting saying if buyer does not pay for recorded and the item is lost in post, I will not be held responsible.. Seems to have worked so far..

If they pay via paypal, you will have no choice but to refund unless you can prove (RD or SD) that they recieved the item, no matter what you write in your listing. You cant over-ride ebay/paypal rules just by writing something in the listing im afraid
