New App idea - where should I go?

I've got an idea for an App that is definitely something I would like so I think it would have some appeal for other people too. I'm not going to share my idea here, what I'm looking for is suggestions of what to do with it.
I'm not a techie person and I've no idea where you would start with the technology side of it, so I'm not looking for help to do it myself.
Please bear in mind that I'm not a spring chicken!
I look forward to lots of (polite) suggestions....

It obviously depends on how complex the app is, if you want it created for your own personal use or to distribute it, and if its a mobile, computer or web app.
If its very simple and just for you then you could learn to create it as a hobby. If its more complex, you want to monitorize it or you want it to work on a range of devices etc then you are best getting a developer. There are sites you can pick up overseas freelancers fairly cheap, most are honest and at least half decent at what they do or you can approach a UK development company that'll charge you vastly more but are easier to deal with if they steal your idea etc.1 -
To get some idea of what's involved read through this:-

Search the Play/Apple Store and be 100% that your idea isn't already covered by another app. It almost certainly already will be the case. But that's not to say your idea isn't valid, and it probably isn't unique.Quite a few apps basically boil down to being web browsers in new packaging.1

I recall seeing a TV programme once (maybe either The Apprentice or Dragon's Den) that suggested an absolute minimum of £250,000 would be need to develop, protect and market an app successfully. Have you got that much spare cash lying around?

Have you considered a web page rather than an app?

When you've got it out there, remember to come back and let us all know what it is.1

Hi, most websites I've seen advise making a prototype of your app idea.
If you just have the idea without any tech knowledge you need to get other people involved and that's where things may come a wee bit unstuck.
However, I just googled 'idea for an app what to do now' and loads of links popped up, so you could start there?
Good luck, anyway! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
