Is there a maximum weight for Easyjet hand luggage

I distinctly remember heavy-looking bags being weighed at the first stage of security (a person checking your passport / boarding pass, before you get in the xray machine queues) when I passed through Stansted a fortnight ago.

security at stansted really do seem to very hot on handluggage sizes, infact i belive handluggage cases that would fit in a overhead locker are turned away on a whim by overzealous security staff

if you told get told to check in a handluggage item, then at least try another security queue and hope for the best, also appearing confident and present your boarding card with a smile counts for a lot

ryanair overhead lockers are considerably bigger than the size of those stands which guage your size of handluggage at check in, its surprsing how big cases can be and still fit in a overhead locker

i have seen scales used by security staff, maybe they belive ryanairs weight limit should be observed by them as well

Stansted have scales at the gates into the secure area. They check your boarding pass and only bother to weigh your luggage if it's for an airline that has a strict weight limit on hand luggage -- like Ryanair and some of the charter airlines.

If it's over that limit then they send you back into the check in area (ie. give you an opportunity to put some of your stuff in to your travelling companion's bag!)

Thought the limit was 5kg for Easyjet,whilst it was 10kg for Ryanair.

I thought I was safe when air newzleand in auckland didnt weigh my hand luggage...until i went through secuity and they did just before x ray and were sending people backed for overweight,...some airlines do but yeah it is normally an airline thing as it will be their liability if it falls on someones head.

i think easyjet 'sell' the line that their hand luggage weight allowance is the most generous in Europe (that's because they don't state a weight in kg)....i have certainly travelled with hand luggage weighing the same as the hold limits

I travelled with Ryanair through Stansted recently carrying just hand luggage - which was full to capacity and must have been on the size limit. No-one mentioned weighing my bag.

no it was full of printed paper as i had printed off all the threads on here regarding flight upgrades , should i buy my currency now or later and where's the best place to buy dollars and euros ....took me two weeks to get through all the ones from just the last 3 months.
dubloons are the future though for foreign travel
