parked car damaged - advice please
Driver side wheel arch and corner of the bumper all the paint and panel is damaged. The supermarket are checking their CCTV, and no witnesses have come forward to customer services,
I have reported this to the police, as per the supermarket manager advice.
I got a price from a Bodyshop repair he said £350 as the bumper needs to come off and be repaired.
My insurance is full comp, 9 yrs no claims, excess £100. They have clause being hit when parked does not affect my NCD.
Welcome any views what is the best approach do I get it repaired myself or go via insurance?

But it might affect future premiums, I'd probably just get it repaired outside of the insurance.2

That was my fear, pay the £100 xs then an increase over the next few years.TadleyBaggie said:But it might affect future premiums, I'd probably just get it repaired outside of the insurance.0 -
Many years ago a friend had his car keyed and claimed off his insurance. He had protected NCD, but the insurance went up a lot at renewal time. All the insurance company said was "you should see the premium without your NCD"!

You would have at least £250 to put towards any future increases though and spread across multiple years. You are also covered if that £350 quote turns out to be a £500 repair in the end.0

Don't even think about not telling your insurance. It's in your terms and conditionathat you must. You risk having future claims declined and no one will insure you going forward.

The bodywork garage said he needs to repair the bumper from behind. He said an insurance claim would probably end up replacing the bumper as the car is only a few years old.400ixl said:You would have at least £250 to put towards any future increases though and spread across multiple years. If i went the insurance route I would expect to pay 100xs plus future increases.
Also I am a named driver on my folks car so an increase for them.
Not sure what to do..0 -
What is your annual policy today? If you have 9 years NCD I can't see it being that high, so any non fault rise is likely to be in the 10's of pounds not hundreds, if at all.0

Remember, big brother is watching youDon't most insurance quotes ask if the driver has had any accidents or claims in the last x years? If the OP doesn't claim, that incident wasn't an accident he was involved in, was it?
