Ford Fiesta delayed delivery

I ordered a Ford Fiesta in mid-2021 with a contract due date of 1 November 2021. Ever since then the delivery has been delayed owing to the shortage of semiconductor components. What is really going on? Are Ford Fiestas actually being manufactured and delivered?

It's true that there is a worldwide shortage of components, new cars have suffered massively-increased waiting times recently.  Yes, cars are still being manufactured, but at a vastly reduced rate.
< Of course, this would never have happened in the olden days when cars weren't rammed-full of computery-gizmos   >

Thank you. It is encouraging that some manufacturing is still taking place. Ford will compensate me for the delay but as things stand there is no dependable forecast.

Yup, it's "one of those things" at the moment, I'm afraid.  That's part of the (or the main???) reason why used car prices have increased in recent times - people are buying used because they can't buy new.  It's not just Ford, it's an industry-wide issue.

My partner ordered a new skoda on the 19th of July last year and picked it up today so ten months and speaking to the salesman it depends on what model you order as some take 18 months and others 4 weeks

Around 80% of wiring harnessess for European car manufacturers originate from the Ukraine. Well, they used to.

You're very fortunate that Ford are compensating you for the delay.

With most manufacturers it's either like it or lump it.

Off topic, sorry. Your reference to “the Ukraine” got me thinking (dangerous to do that so late at night). What is it about a country that means it has a “the” in front of it’s name? We don’t refer to “the France” or to “the Canada” (although we do refer to “the Netherlands”). The Ukraine does sound right thought but never thought why before and now I’m curious. 🙂
