It looks like it will get the full amount, I am glad I did not pay the £824!

I received emailed confirmation that they received it - how long should I be expected to wait for a written response ?

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Anything up to 6 months.  Why in particular do you need that, do you not have on line access ?

    Hello

18 digit National Insurance Reference Number

I paid some class 3 missing contributions on my state pension back in 2019.

I still have the same 18 digit ref number written down that I used.

Do you keep the same ref number or do you need a new reference number for each time you pay missing contributions for different years?

    Thanks

Having confusing difficulties. Retired in Aug 2016 and received a statement from HMRC showing year by year 50 years of NI fully paid apart from 2 years part paid (when i changed jobs) and the last year when I retired part year through. Now I'm getting pension more than £40 per week short of the £220. Have rung Pension Service to discuss this several times over the last few months and been promised a callback within 28 days but these have never materialised. I suppose I'm now going to sit on the computer for ever till I get a response and explanation. Some good news I had the all clear on a PSA test this week so all being well I should live long enough to get a solution!!

If you retired in August 2016 your entire NI record bar a couple of months would have been pre 2016. Basically everyone with a NI record had a calculation done at the point of the New State Pension starting and that determined how many years contributions were needed for the new state pension. You didn't have time to make up contribute further as you retired a few months later so the majority if not all of your payment will be the old state pension amount which is around £169 a week I think.

If you reached state retirement in 2016 and are not receiving the full pension with 50 years contributions then you were in a contracted out pension where you paid a lower rate of NI - usual suspects are NHS, local government, civil service etc.  Your 2016 calculation would be higher under the old rules so that is what you received.

    Just a thought...

The deadline has been extended, apparently because of the massive influx of applications to buy additional years because of the campaign.

My question is, is this at risk of pushing the retirement age further back for everyone? More people claiming more money? Pension payments from the pot increasing?

I get the treasury gets more money now, & some may not regain the benefits in the future, but could this be a catalyst for increase in state pension age?

The potential to do more harm than good?
