Can you not declare it as MS and /or a TIA ? how desperate are you to travel abroad .1

What happens IF you say the diagnosis is MS ?
IF that is the most likely and very probable diagnosis ultimately (and they have not "named" any other condition that "fits the bill") then I'd go with that.
If you need healthcare abroad for something that is subsequently considered to be MS related then you are covered, IF they say it is something else that is a "new illness" or "newly diagnosed" then you could hardly be expected to report it as pre-existing.
I don't think that you would be very much more likely to need attention or medical repatriation (unless you are taking your chainsaw with you) than Mr. Average who might be less risk averse and cross the road without the same attention that you do or spends hours playing beach sports and the possibility of suffering a variety of injuries. There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

OK
So when exactly was "A few years ago out of the blue" ?
Has anything "identical" or ever so slightly similar occurred again ?
Each time you've had the MRI "to make sure no new brain damage has occurred" has there been any? New damage that is!
Has your "eye muscle control" changed at all since that first occasion?
How long from "an event" taking place can that event be held over you like the sword of Damocles ?
If you had had an epileptic seizure, JUST ONE, then you would have had to stop driving for at least 6 months, but depending upon circumstances you could definitely have resumed driving at some point.
Maybe on AED medication but quite possibly not.
Maybe just the 6 months, maybe a whole year, maybe as much as 3 years later.
Some people only ever have them whilst asleep for instance.
After 10 years (not on AED medication) you can resume driving a bus, coach or lorry !!!
Have you thought about contacting your doctor and explaining the insurance situation and just beg them to give it a name?
Ask them IF it is not going to be the MS then what other explanation however slight/rare are possibilities.
IF it's not MS why are you having a "consultant Neurologist specialising" in the disease keeping an eye on you and not a team of other medical experts looking for an alternate and specific diagnosis
Otherwise get it labelled as a "SYNDROME" - Maybe Chainsaw syndrome
Covers a multitude of events, outcomes, symptoms, episodes sometimes extremely infrequent with little effect on one's health

Not sure if it's worth contacting any of the companies that can be found through any of the links here
It does mention travel and car etc.

Why can't you put it down that they diagnosed this as Internuclear Ophthalmoplegia (INO) ?

I have been in a similar position but not as serious.
A sports injury that the doctors couldn't(still can't) diagnose and affecting my hip.
In this case the insurance sai eventually that I could have a policy but not to cover anything to do with that. Which of course could be blamed for a lot of things.
I can get round that but you've reminded me I must do something before I travel again.
Have you told your doctor of this dilemna?
They can be surprisingly helpful and come up with soloutions we can't think of. May be able to give a temporary diagnosis and expectations.
The insurance need to know the risk so that they can estimate a potential pay out.
And if this is possible you need to phone insurers and speak to a manager or similar. The general staff only have a script.
I've been through this twice with medical and type of trip and been sucessful but you need to think outside the box they place on everything.
There are companies that specialise like All Clear.
It may also help to post onthe Senior Forum on Tripadvisor. More people there who have a similar problem. Be sure to give your location ie UKI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
