Thanks Polly. Yep we have seen turbulent times. And there are many people who still have a bitter hatred for Thatcher. They even have parties on the day she died, which is going a bit far. We are back again in a place where the govt has ripped people's lives apart. 3 weeks pf turmoil, figures are back in place, but at least £100bn has been spent to no effect. Lots of unfortunate people have come up to retirement age lately, and their pensions may be £50,£100 a week or more short for the rest of their lives. And the bankers have raised the mortgage rate up to over 4%. Thousands of people will certainly lose their homes. I remember the anguish of people back in the 80s as homes were repossessed. awful. You were asking why I dont use a shopping trolley. Well,at the moment it is jam packed with stuff from my display cabinet. I wouldnt have used it anyway the other day,the bus was packed to the gunnells with people, standing room only. I couldnt have manoeuvered through the press to get onto the bus.1

I am quite sure that Nicola is unaware that such a big hub has no disabled parking.
I am quite sure she would be not best pleased.
I have met her a couple of times & I like her & personally think Scotland is the better for her.
I have emailed my GP to make them aware & to note on my records that's why I may not have the jab.
I had the flu jab locally.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Got a text this afternoon from orthopaedics about an appointment to see a consultant. At a hospital far away.At 8.00 on a Sunday morning
Remember when I had to go to Tyneside about the cancer scare,3 bus journeys, nearly 2 hrs to get there.
I immediately went through the rigmarole to get hold of the appointment making staff, and got an appointment at Sunderland hospital at 10 am on 13 Nov. Pretty good, only 4 months wait, for this initial appointment.#,which isnt bad these days. I dont think I will be a priority case, the pain is intermittent, and not too great. It gets a little worse if I stand cooking or washing up etc for 10 or more minutesbut in between I'm OK. But many people are waiting a year or more for ops.Ouch. The waiting list for hospital treatment has now topped 7 million.Thats an extra 200,000 in a mere 3 months.Wait till the covid and flu patients take up even more hospital beds, the queues for treatment will reach to the moon!I have been waiting since Wednesday for a phone call on another NHS matter, they never rang. Then tis afternoon they rang when my phone was across the room and it stopped before I got to it. But they sent a text asking me to get in touch since they had been unable to reach me!. I think it rang 3 times then went to voicemailI will have the joy of struggling on the phone on Monday to get in touch, but at least this time I at least have a number to call.......

I'm still trying to get my head around we now have another new chancellor can't remember if he's the third or maybe number four.I was talking about a walker not a shopping trolley many on the threads use them they support you when walking but many have a basket or something similar that will take shopping and a seat so you can sit down for a while when you're out and about.Occupational Therapy used to supply those they lent me a perching stool when I was crippled with sciatica and couldn't sit down .They have bath aids and many other things that help. Like many others they've been under a lot of pressure in the past few years so I've no idea if they'll be working through a backlog or able to help. A GP or someone in a hospital can refer a patient to them..I never held a party when Mrs T died but did join others singing ding dong the witch is dead. It sounds awful now but so many lives were damaged and perfectly ordinary people had their lives ruined.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

What a month this has been politically. Absolute mayhem! In the last 3 months we have had Sunak, and Javid, and Quarteng and now Hunt. You couldnt make it up!Sad to see Robbie Coltrane has died. I loved the series Cracker, and generations of kids adored him as Hagrid.Apparently he was a very intelligent witty and funny man ,lots of wonderful comments about him by people who are sad and shocked2

sheilavw said:Dusty my bin lid blew off and away last February when I was away. I logged a repair, thinking they would come and put a new lid on. I got an email saying they couldn't repair so I got a free replacement. They then arranged a day to collect the old one, I 'could just leave it out, didn't need to be at homeYou seem to have a better council than ours. They've overspent over the years on expensive projects and are struggling to do much at all many of those projects are still half finsihed however they've now started a big vanity project to tear down a big former conference centre/ theatre to a build something they hope will attract more tourists to the area. The building they will tear down was neglected for many years and fell in to disrepair.polly

Morning all. Getting over my gastric problem thank heavens, ear infection is improving a little, knee not too bad. So I could probably say health is around 60%,which is great for me.+stuff to do today: hoover sittingroom, may get some littl'uns today.+ Mop kitchen, its really manky. My state of health is always reflected in whether the floor is clean or not+I have a huge pile of washing to do,over a weeks worth. it'll take forever to dry as I am in Mrs Scrooge persona dont want to put heating on,and there are sporadic showers. There has just been a beautiful rainbow across the road,so bright and colourful. lovely. There was a similar one yesterday, but less sharp and bright.+ do asd@ order.am cutting out pepsi max ,just a few cans for visitors, but I am drinking too mucn coke. And will save a lot of money!+reading. I only read 30 pages yesterday. We are already halfway through the month and I have lots of challenges in progress.I'll do a whole post on the subject maybe later today,or the evening if I have visitors during the day.+do spuds. have fish already cooked for the dinner, havent even thought yet about supper

....................OK,lots to do,but Mr Dusty is in the room and continually asking me about his pools. He inadvertently put on a £5 bet,he meant 50p.....sigh......I have had to spend 10 mins googling methods of cancelling the bet,and was on the point of doing it,explained it to him,and ,as ever,he didnt believe me and phoned DS1,who of course said exactly the same as me. I then proceded and clicked it off in an instant. Even as I am doing this he is offended because as I was typing he asked a question and I wasnt listening! :DI am off to mop and take washing out of the machine, then peel the spuds, before I once more put on the computer. He hates me being distracted with things I am doing on the laptop.OK,see what I can accomplish by 11.00am2 -
I'm back, mixed bag of results. I hung out some washing, bit sun,12C,but no wind. I will have to keep an eye out for rain.Emptied the rubbish, and because I was obsessing with the bin that needs repair,I stupidly put the household waste in that recycling bin. Came back in the house, realized my error when I saw plastic bottles and coke cans on bench, and had to struggle to get the bag back out an put in the waste bin. Then returned to collect recycle stuff to put in correct bin. Trouble is I have a thing with getting down the step,I have to turn sideways and put the better leg down first, while holding on to the chain. I can then pick up the bin bag and toss it. Making an extra trip, extra struggle down the step is not what I want to do. Stuff had built up from being unwell,so lots involved.By then it was 11.00am,and had to do the spuds. By ten past when finished my back was killing me,so I am resting now. Will delay mopping etc for a while, will do my asd@ order now, after resting back a few minutes.2

oh boy ,those vanity projects. When government cuts started out the city council used libraries as a soft target, closing down 7 of the 12 libraries, more than decimating bookbuying funds. But in the central library the council thought it was a great idea to do a mural on the children's library wall. A mere £50,000. Pretty bland, mediocre affair. Only six months later they closed down the whole purposebuilt library, stored away 95% of the books, and stuffed the library in a small spare room at the museum!.Its half the size of my branch library. They got rid of the computer room, which had at least 20 computers, always in use with waiting queues Now there are two! I often think of that poorly executed mural there in an empty building. What a waste of £50,000!
