Hi people, here I am again,at least 50% awake! :D But yawning my head off at 10 am.Definitely need my B12 jab.
FINALLY can report some frugal living progress, after a pretty static month. I have £100 for my savings binder.
I have a somewhat individual savings style.I have the HBB Home Budget Box where we deposit £123 each fortnight for all daily expenses. Now that I get most of my groceries from Asd@ home deliveries each week Mr Dusty isnt spending half as much as he used to,and indeed if he is going for his exotic fruits he is buying them himself! Shock Horror! :D:D
If Mr D sees a lot of cash still left near the end of the fortnight he thinks it is surplus and that perhaps I dont need so much. :) In vain do I explain that I save all the year round fo a host of birthdays,Xmas, home insurance etc etc.So what I do is siphon off a tenner or more every few days which he assumes I am using for shopping. :D
I have my cash savings binder with envelopes for things like my livingroom makeover(fully funded at £2500),emergency fund (fully funded at £500) plus £500/£1000 for Xmas and birthdays , a new envelope for energy bill funds(expecting that £150 off the council sometime),household (at £600 out of £2000 for all the things I want,or am putting aside for eplacing breaking white goods)and personal for anything i need
Once I had some basic savings in each category I simplified the process. No saving £10 or £5 per envelope every week. I have an envelope called ''in transit''  All notes go in there and whenever there is £100  in twenties or tens,I allocate it to one particular envelope. So this time its my personal envelope, which now has £200 I badly need tops, smart trouses, underwear and shoes.Maybe new nighties if it looks  like I will be in  hospital at any time.Next time it will be the Xmas envelope that benefits.
Mr Dusty is back from the town, and he bought plantain, which I am glad to say he paid for himself. £1 per meal is a bit pricey for just a staple food, but he loves the taste of home.Plantain is the main staple food of his area.
Hmm,the windowcleane has been. Its supposed to be 20C,but its nowhere near, overcast and that cool wind, but its very humid. Not too nice for my lungs,I am hiding from the grass pollen. Maybe the curse of the window cleaner will fail this fortnight. When you live on the north east coast you can never be sure......

I thought we were all forumites anyway?
Mrs CD,I have to thank you for the one of the few bright spots yesterday. Not many physical issues, normal aches and pains which I largely ignore, but a lot of depession and foggy brain. Couldnt bring myself to even post ,but I did notice your''fashion on the ration'' in your signature,a bit puzzling so,being incurably nosy, I went and had a look, and it brightened my day a lot. Much Mending on the Borrow! :D:D I'm sure I saw Miss Marple sedately walking through the village!
Its unfortunate that I am totally unqualified to be a member as I dont sew,or knit or  crochet or bake or.....you get the point. But I admire those who do. Pipney-Jane is a hoot!
Brought back memories of my mother, who had three young children (I wasnt born till 1948). She would swap her clothing coupons with the next door neighbor,Mrs Potts, for food coupons for her kids.
I was looking at a photo of her, taken circa1956. As ever she was in a wraparound  overall. I rarely saw her without it. That covering must have saved a lot of wear and tear on her clothes during the war.
